{G r a t i t u d e * S u n d a y :: Sunday’s heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitude.}

Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…Bracken showing us the first daisy of the year, blooming in our yard. We all love those tiny little daisies and spotting the very first one is always an event around here.
.
…Sleeping in my own bed. That always feels so good after being away on a trip.
.
…My sister sending me an e-mail and wishing me a Happy Galentine’s Day. (From a favorite show of ours, Parks and Recreation.) It cracked me up so much and started my morning in the best way.
.
…Celebrating Valentine’s Day early when we were in town the day before and going out to eat for a seafood lunch, followed by some ice cream for dessert. (Celebrating with food is the way we love to celebrate for every occasion, really.)
.
…Bracken drawing hearts on pieces of paper, coloring them, cutting them out, and then taping them up all over the house to decorate for Valentine’s Day. And then Jeff and Bracken surprising me with flowers and a delicious steak dinner, bless their hearts.
.
…Watching Bracken’s eyes widen in awe and his overall delight when we went through the car wash, just like I remember feeling when I was a kid. Children see the wonder and magic in the simplest things, which I love so much.
.
…Homemade beef soup with onions, mushrooms, kale. parsnips, carrots, celery, and beet greens. We usually make soup once a week and this week’s soup was especially delicious.
.
…Talking to my family on the phone. When they call it always brightens my day.
.
…That wonderful feeling when the jet lag was wearing off. (It’s much easier for me to travel from the West Coast to the East Coast, but going back is a bit trickier. Our sleep patterns were out of whack when we returned from Florida, but now we’re getting back into our usual rhythm.)
.
…Jeff’s suggestion to add some baking soda to the load of laundry I was washing. I got a favorite shirt from the thrift store recently, but it had an overwhelming smell of very strong perfume that I wasn’t fond of, and even though I washed it again and again, the smell lingered. The baking soda seemed to do the trick!
