I love experimenting! My latest experiment was on Saturday. I had a bunch of fluffy white wool and a pile next to it that still needed to be carded. I wanted another color to work with so I heated some water on the stove and poured in some henna. I put the uncarded wool in, once the water had cooled down a little. I let it sit for around 20 minutes. Then I squeezed all the water out and let it dry by the woodstove. What a wonderful color it created, great for skin tones! Now I want to try another batch and let it soak longer to get a deeper color. This was my first dyeing experiment and now I’m hooked. I’m looking out at the coming garden in a whole new way! The picture above doesn’t show the color completely because the sun was shining on it, but I wanted to share it anyway. (One tip I want to share on dyeing with henna, it to not let your henna come into contact with metal because it will turn it green, unless of course you want green.)
