They are currently living in a giant box with fresh straw, a heat lamp, water & yummy chick feed in our living room. They are staying warm by the woodstove & with their heat lamp. They are so active and fun to watch. I spent the morning teaching them all to drink by bringing them to the water and putting their beaks in it.
They are one day old today! I know they will grow fast and I am savoring the sweetness of their tiny fluffiness! We are holding them, petting them, getting them used to human touch, which we feel is important to start at a young age.
What a perfect Spring day! The frog is singing in the front pond. Every year their is one frog in the Spring and we always think ‘poor frog, out their all alone..’ and before you know it, there is an answer far out in the forest, and soon their will be a loud chorus of frogs singing in the pond all summer long. When I sing while I’m doing dishes, the frog starts singing. When Jeff sings and plays his guitar, the frog starts singing. He loves music and always responds to instruments, singing, and Jeff’s hilarious imitation croaking sounds. He is a part of the family, though we only hear him and haven’t seen him yet, he’s good at hiding. In the Summer the frogs all sun themselves on the rocks in the center of the pond and then we might be lucky enough to see him! For now we enjoy his music and his company.
Today I went down to visit the goats (besides going down to feed them twice a day) to see how they were enjoing their new home on this gorgeous Spring day, sunny & bright! Today felt so warm, like a summer day, when I sat still in the sun. They are definitely enjoying their new place! I loved watching the goats lay and soak up the warm sun and eat all the lush Spring growth in their yard. Reiki (the blue eyed siamese cat) was rubbing up against the goats, touching noses with them, and lounging in the sun. She is always with the goats, which is so cute to see. I put fresh straw down in their house, which I do every day. I love the smell of fresh straw and seeing their beds so cozy!
Then I returned to the house and did my chores to the sound of chirp..chirp..chirp, the new background music to our life! 🙂
