Yesterday we spent the whole day in the garden & it felt great! We organized pots, weeded lots of plant beds, spread compost, put woodchips down in the walkways to keep the weeds down, and got trays ready for planting seeds. It felt so good to be in the sunshine (and every now and then some light rain as well.) I posted a picture of a little snail friend that kept me company on the end of the wheelbarrow, while I brought loads of woodchips to the garden. I eventually had to relocate my friend to the forest rather than the garden, where I’m sure he’ll be happy.
Jeff was in heaven building new plant beds and spreading compost. I like to call him ‘The King of Compost.’ He delights in compost! Turning the piles until they form the perfect magic for the garden. The goat pebbles & straw bedding we’ve been composting since last Spring is going to make for a happy garden this year!
I also included a picture of the Flowering Plum Tree out front! The tiny pink blossoms are so beautiful! We have Hyacinths blooming, Daffodils, Camelias, and the Trilliums are blooming all along the driveway and are covering the forest. I have been watching the Lilac bushes, waiting for their emergence, excited to smell their sweet scent and see the beautiful flowers. We also have a Tulips about to open.
The chicks are now living in the Chicken Coop, where they have a lot more space than they did in their box in the house. They are running around like crazy and growing so fast I can hardly believe it. Two of our mama goats are due this week! So looking forward to it!
And, very good news, the frog has a friend!! There are now two frogs in the pond, singing merrily together, waiting for more friends to arrive!
We are waiting for our seed order to arrive, it’s time to plant seeds! Being in the garden again is so good for my Spirit. The garden is like a dear friend to me that I miss in the winter months, even though I gaze upon it, it’s just not the same as digging in the dirt!

What a great blog. Thanks. We just got some chickens a few months ago and I’m loving them. We have a geriatric rooster named Henry. A neighbor gave him to us, and we’re happy to have the rooster without the chicks, since we just want eggs. Henry is too old to do his manly duties!
