We’ve been letting the second Chicken yard grow up before we let the Chickens in. This week it looked nice and lush, I knew it was time! I opened the gate and the Chickens have been eating ever since!
Angel and Goldie enjoying the new yard
This is Penny, my favorite Chicken! She is very social and talkative, always making the cutest noises. I love watching her, she is very entertaining!
I took the goats out grazing this week, the first time the babies had been out of their yard to graze (except for escaping on occasion.) They help us do some weeding & have a good meal at the same time!
Honeysuckles are blooming by the front door and in the back garden. They smell heavenly! Everytime I walk past them I inhale deeply. I’ve been making a habit of smelling the Honeysuckles & Roses every time I pass them & always think ‘Take time to smell the roses’… Yes, indeed!
Fuschias are blooming by the front pond, the hummingbirds are going crazy! This year I’ve seen more hummingbirds than ever before!
Here is some Winter Squash with Sweetie the Sheepdog in the background. The garden is very happy with the blend of sunshine and light rain, perfect ingredients for growing, growing, growing!
Yesterday I saw the giant mint in the morning light and knew it was mint harvesting time! I wanted to make sure I harvested it before it started flowering.
I harvested the mint and layed it to dry on a screen in the sun. We love to make sun tea out of it in the summer and drink mint tea throughout the winter.
The Beauty of June is that something new can be blooming every time you look!
What I love about June is ripe strawberries, blooming fragrant flowers, birds singing, flourishing green gardens, happy chickens, fresh salads to eat, digging in the dirt, cats napping in the sun, delicious goat’s milk, being barefoot, hummingbirds humming, content dogs chewing on bones, outdoor projects, sun kissed skin, grazing goats with wagging tails, laundry swaying in the wind, homemade cheese brewing in the greenhouse, and bonfires under a starry sky!
What do you love about June?
