Tonight I was at the kitchen sink with my arms plunged into hot, soapy water doing dishes, when Jeff walked in and told me to hold out my hand and close my eyes.
“I have something for you…” he said.
What in the world? There was a moment of fear, hoping it was not something alive.. some strange bug… Jeff would never do that and I had to laugh at my silly ridiculous fears that sometimes pop up at funny times.
I held out my hand… it felt so light….. what could it be?…… an Egg!!! It was so little and precious, the sweetest little egg I’d ever seen! I was in love! And so was Jeff! We just stared at the sweet little egg, feeling so full of delight. It felt so delicate, we held it gently in our hands with reverance, admiring the light brown color and beautiful shape.
It reminded me how excited our neighbors were when their chickens layed their first egg, now I knew exactly how they felt. I was truly surprised, I hadn’t expected to have eggs for awhile.
Our chickens are officially laying and now I will start checking their nesting boxes whenever I go down to feed them and bring them treats!

Wow, Eggs truly are little miracles….
