I just finished reading ‘Real Food: What to Eat and Why’ by Nina Planck, which our local library ordered due to my request (thank you!) I already knew the general gist of it before I ever picked it up and I wasn’t reading it to be convinced of what it was saying. I just love finding people with a similar view on diet and nutrition as I have- which is to eat whole foods close to their natural state. If you haven’t guessed already, I’m passionate about food! I love to produce food on our little farm- growing a garden, milking our goats, and gathering eggs from our chickens. I also love to go to local farms and harvest foods. I love to spend hours in the kitchen (when I have the time) to create delicious meals. And I love to read about real foods…. that’s where this book comes in.
See, I’m interested in learning why foods are good for you- as an added affirmation of what my body likes (which is my eating guide, before my brain or what anyone else tells me). My body knows, that’s enough for me. But sometimes it’s fun to read about some of the reasons why my body likes these real foods so much or shys away from others. The thing I love about this book is that the foods it is endorsing are the ones that make my body feel good when I eat them. And that’s all the proof I need right there…
