It has been a fun, busy, and productive weekend.
On Thursday, Jeff went in for surgery. He had a cataract removed from his left eye. I waited in the waiting room during the procedure, getting more reading done than I had in a long time. Then a kind woman called me back to see how he was doing. I went back expecting to comfort him and walked in to see him with a huge smile on his face. Is this the guy that just had surgery?! Yep. They had given him some painkillers and he was happy as a clam. He was cracking jokes and telling the people hilarious stories. Wow, this was a surprise. I couldn’t help laughing. We got in the truck to head home and his giddiness turned to silence. I looked over to see that he had completely passed out in the passenger seat and he slept the whole ride home. Then he took a nap when he got home, woke up, and then went to bed early. I was so happy to see him sleeping, just what he needed to heal.
The next day, Friday, our friends were going to be dancing in Florence. Our friend Michelle is moving to California this week and was going to be performing one last time before she left. I wanted to go, but didn’t think that I would be able to leave Jeff so soon after his surgery. But he took it easy on Friday (no working which is really hard for him) and was content to stay home that night and watch a scary movie (because he knows I won’t watch anything scary) while I went out with our friends. Yay! So our friend Neila picked me up and we got to watch our friends dance. Wow! They blew me away. They are all amazingly gifted and beautiful to behold. We got to see our friend Marta perform first. Then Allison, Star & Michelle. Afterwards we went to a restaurant in Old Town and talked. It was a fun night. And I stayed up way past my bedtime. I felt so wild.
Yesterday and today, Jeff worked on our online etsy store (still no working in the shop for him!)
On Saturday, I got busy in my art room. I had taken all the furniture & everything out. My Mom & Bruce had given us a gift certificate to Home Depot for Christmas so we bought texturing & painting supplies with it. I started texturing the art room yesterday (Saturday) and finished it today! So I am feeling pretty darn proud, if I do say so myself! My arms hurt, my hands hurt, my shoulders hurt… everything hurts. I feel so sore and completely exhausted, but I have a big smile on my face. The texture on the walls completely transformed the room! I feel proud for a lot of reasons. Number one, I did it all by myself. Number two, I even textured on a Sunday, which is technically “supposed” to be my day off. Number three, I had the willpower to carry on even when my muscles hurt and I kind of felt like whining.
I listened to Pandora radio and that helped inspire me to keep going because I would start singing and lose track of time. I had the windows open and noticed that every time a reggae song came on, our rooster started crowing. So I started joking to Jeff that we had a reggae rooster because he obviously liked it (although it could also mean he didn’t, but I like to think he was singing along in his own way.) Jeff’s office is below the art room so we could talk to each other through the floor. He could tell me about exciting happenings on our etsy store and I could tell him about all the progress I was making. Sometimes I turned the music off and listened to the rain (yesterday) or Jeff playing his drum (today.)
Below are some sneak previews to give you an idea of what the texturing looks like.
Next step is to paint it, the color is going to be Robin’s Egg Blue. I’ll post some pictures when I’m done.
