This week, week 5, our baby is the size of a sesame seed. Wow! This week the heart might even start beating, which is so amazing.
I have been feeling really healthy and good. My first indication that I was pregnant, was that my breasts became swollen and incredibly sore (way more than I’d ever experienced before.) Now I’m experiencing something else as well- fatigue. Suddenly I am feeling more tired than usual. Today I was struggling with this new feeling. I am not used to feeling tired like that and I had a lot of things I wanted to accomplish- so I was pushing against the fatigue. My new physical limitations made me feel a little grouchy with frustration. I wanted my body to keep going and going and it wasn’t cooperating. Good thing my husband Jeff is so silly and can make me laugh no matter how grouchy I am. He was continuously cracking jokes all day that I couldn’t help but laugh at. Then we were getting gas in our truck, when I saw a truck pull into the gas station with a message on the back of it that said ‘Lighten Up.’ I started laughing. This was a timely message from the Universe and I was grateful for the reminder.
Between Jeff’s humor and the message on the truck, my perspective shifted. I realized that my body is going through so many changes right now and my body is going to get more tired than usual (even if the baby is only the size of a sesame seed.) I need to go with the flow right now and embrace all the changes my body is going through, with grace. And I’m sure I’ll need to be reminded again and again…
Thanks Lara! I love your support, knowing what a good mama you are!
The nesting and cleaning energized phase is my natural state, the fatigue is definitely a shift. 🙂
Today I took a nap, which is a very rare occurance for me. It felt fantastic. So I will welcome naps for the rejuvenating treat they are. And I just picked up some more Raspberry Leaf today. Nettles & Raspberry Leaf tea here I come!
And thanks for the protein reminder- I know I need a lot of it!
Love, Taryn
Oh, sweet little sesame seed baby! Some good news for you, the fatigue stage won’t last forever, and many women get super energized a little later in pregnancy, usually leading to much nesting and cleaning! 🙂 Naps, nettles, red raspberry leaf, and lots of protein will be good friends to you in the coming months. It’s good self nurturing time.
