Jeff and I were excited for family to visit this weekend. Then on Friday we had a surprise in the front yard that wasn’t too pleasant. Uh-oh, I thought. Bad timing with the family about to come over. I didn’t want to deal with it because I wanted to get the house clean and food made for our weekend guests. But Jeff’s already done a great job of summing it up, so I’ll let him tell you. To read about the surprise, check out Jeff’s blog: www.mysticorbtalismans.blogspot.com (where he shares about the truth that life in the country ain’t always purdy.)
But luckily, our weekend turned out great regardless of all that mentioned above.
My stepsister, Rachelle, and her boyfriend Pete drove down on Friday from Seattle. Then my Dad and Dorrie came Saturday morning from Grants Pass. We had a big breakfast and the sun was shining. We went and worked on some outdoor projects. We made a lot of progress around here, soaked up the sunshine and had a lot of fun. We gave the goats some treats while we were clearing the lower garden. Dad had a fantastic idea of putting the excess moss we were picking up in the chicken yard. The chickens went crazy. They were eating the moss and scratching through it for bugs.
Then we all went out to eat at a seafood restaurant in Florence and celebrated Jeff’s birthday early while the family was together. He was a happy guy. We all headed to bed pretty early after our busy day.
This morning we woke up to the rain, which made me even happier about our gorgeous weather yesterday. We started a fire and made a big Sunday breakfast. We hung out and talked, then everybody headed back home.
I took a bath and cleaned a little around the house. But mostly we relaxed because we had been working so hard outside lately, it was a rainy cozy Sunday, and it just felt good.
Thanks Lara! That sure was a surprise! You never know what kind of strange projects are going to pop up around here. Luckily Jeff knows how to fix so many things himself because I would be clueless on that stuff without him! 🙂
I’m so happy you had such a fun weekend with family to make up for the poopy septic tank surprise. At least there will be no more septic tank surprises now. 🙂
I’m loving the rainy days indoors too.
