Every year my Grandma Jensen (bless her heart!) gives Jeff a gift certificate to Seed Savers for his birthday. His birthday is April 6. This year my Grandma decided to send his birthday gift early because she knows how early we start planting our garden. Jeff and I had so much fun going through the catalog, deciding what we wanted to plant in the garden this year. Looking at all the colorful pictures made us salivate. And it made me crave that delicious, juicy, fresh garden food in the summer!
Here is what we ordered:
2 Arugula– Apollo & Sylvetta
1 Bean– Kentucky Wonder Pole Bean
2 Broccoli– Calabrese & Romanesco
2 Cabbage– Early Jersey Wakefield & Red Rock
1 Cauliflower– Purple Cape
1 Cucumber– Double Yield
1 Melon– Minnesota Midget
2 Hot Peppers– Aurora & Hot Portugal
1 Potato– All Blue
3 Winter Squash– Fordhook Acorn, Table Queen & Waltham Butternut
3 Radish– Early Scarlet Globe, Plum Purple, Rat-tailed Radish
1 Spinach– Strawberry
5 Herbs– German Chamomile, Mrs. Burn’s Lemon Basil, Black Cumin, Stevia & Wormwood
2 Flowers– Firmament & Himalayan Blue Poppy
2 Sweet Peas– Azureus & Grandiflora Mixture
We are so excited! We have a basket of seeds from last year as well. With many of the seeds we got with Jeff’s gift certificate last year, we only used about half of what was in the packet. So with this year’s seed order, last year’s leftover seeds, seeds my uncle Mookie gave us, the seeds we saved ourselves, the perennials already popping up in the garden, and all the volunteers that come up every year…….. we should have a very full garden this year.
And that makes me smile.
Really Big.

Thanks Lara!
Jessica- I look forward to seeing your list. I love seeing what other people plant in their gardens. I agree, Basil is a MUST! We eat so much basil around here! 🙂

Looks like a great list! I’ll be posting mine up soon. I had thought about growing chamomile too, but don’t have a lot of room and it got bumped off the list in favor of basil (can’t get enough homemade pesto!)

Yeah! Grow that garden and feed that little sprouting seed! May you have abundant harvests!
