We had such a productive day in the garden.
The apple blossoms were so pink and pretty in the sunlight. I planted all the basil starts in bigger pots. They needed more room to grow, but still wanted to hang out in the warm greenhouse, so bigger pots it was. Jeff was dedicated to finishing the greenhouse and I can still hear his chainsaw running out there (cutting the final boards to fit into place.)
I dug up blackberries and fell on my butt (twice) from pulling blackberry roots with all my strength and having them come up when I was expecting a longer fight. I hoed some plant beds and covered one with black compost from our compost pile out back. I pulled weeds and fed them to the chickens, who were very happy to have some fresh green treats. We put a gate up in the garden, which is a project we’ve been wanting to get done for a long time. We cleaned things up and organized. We watched the garden transform before our eyes in a single day and appreciated the years of work that has created the beauty around us.
Now my entire body is so exhausted and I feel deeply content. One of those days when you work so hard and then sit down at night barely able to lift your arms, with a big smile spread across your face.
That about sums it up.
