This week, 11 weeks, the baby is now the size of a fig. Well, I didn’t have a fig laying around to take a picture of, so I opted for this picture of our fig tree out front, just starting to form leaves.
Yesterday we had an appointment at Sacred Waters Birthing Center. At our previous visit, we had reviewed all the prenatal testing that is available and chose which tests we wanted. We decided to find out my blood type (so we can know about the RH factor) and have my Vitamin D levels tested, among a few other things. Many tests can be done by urine, but a few tests we wanted required giving blood. Yikes. Jeff and I have both historically been big babies when it comes to needles. Jeff had mentioned this at our last visit and Carla (the student midwife there) offered to do a “Fear Release” with me before the bloodwork, if I was interested. I told her I definetely was interested and felt so grateful for her offer.
So yesterday when we arrived, Carla brought us into a quiet room and I layed down on the bed. I had a comfy pillow and a warm blanket over me. Then she went through a guided meditation/visualization/fear release. Her voice was so soothing and I instantly felt calm wash over me and all of my muscles relax. By the time she finished, I felt like a big puddle. I wasn’t sure if I could move, or if I even wanted to.
When I got up, I felt so good. I went to the room next door and had my bloodwork done. I felt less fearful about it than I had ever felt before. And I thought “Bless you Carla!”
As always, we loved all the women there. Our midwife, Anita is always a joy to see and we feel so at home there.
The night before our appointment, I had a dream about going there.
My dreams that night had been long and exhausting- where I was facing a lot of my fears. Then finally, I went to Sacred Waters in my dream. I was so happy and relieved to be there. Our midwife, Anita was there. She welcomed us, and just her presence felt soothing. I knew that she was a powerful healer and I felt like my body was being healed just by being around her. Then she started massaging my scalp and it was heavenly, like light beams were radiating out of every hair follicle. I soaked up the feeling of bliss.
When I woke up, I couldn’t wait to go to our appointment.
