We had a good day at Saturday Market even though Jeff’s tooth was throbbing the whole time and he was in incredible pain. We saw lots of friends, enjoyed the beautiful weather, ate delicious food we packed along, filled a big bag with fresh produce from the farmer’s market, got to see my Dad & Dorrie because they came to visit us, and had good sales. A good day. But Jeff was hurtin’! He was amazingly friendly and wonderful to everyone who came to our booth. I don’t know anyone else who is so pleasant to be around when they are hurting so much. I know I wouldn’t be!
We called to make a dentist’s appointment and they said they couldn’t get us in until May 20. Jeff was in too much pain to wait that long. They told us that we could drive to the dentist’s office and wait and hope someone canceled an appointment and we could get it. They told us our chances weren’t good of getting in yesterday. We went anyway. I prayed that a miracle would happen and he would get it. It happened. Jeff got in!
They said he has an infected tooth and he needs a root canal. So they gave him some antibiotics for the infection and some pain killers. Our insurance doesn’t cover the root canal, but the dentist’s office is giving us a discount (hallelujah!) We need to have the money paid before surgery starts (making payments is not an option) so we are saving up to get his root canal as soon as possible.
So I haven’t been on the computer much. We’ve been pretty busy taking care of Jeff’s tooth. It’s been hard to see him in pain, but I feel like it’s getting better. The good news is that he has had acid reflux his whole life and has taken medication for it for a long time. He has not taken any medication for a few weeks and he is feeling better than ever. So that seems to be healing. And soon we’ll get his tooth fixed. Then just imagine how good he’ll feel!

dw- Thank you for the information and sharing your experience. Jeff knows a lot about all the dental stuff, which is good. So he feels prepared for it.
My friend Sheila said that the lower molars are connected to the lower intestine in chinese medicine. So Jeff and I both feel there is definitely a connection between the teeth and acid reflux. It’s all so connected.
Love, Taryn

Poor Jeff! I had that happen to me last year & it hurts so bad! I was taking so much tylenol & advil that I started halucinating. That’s when I went to the dentist. We have a lot more options up here.
I do want to let you know my experience. Because I was in so much pain I wasn’t able to research what was going to happen & decide what was best for me. So the dentist talked me into doing the root canal to “save” my tooth. This costs more & the dentist gets more money because then you have to go back in & get a crown. What I didn’t understand is that when they put on the crown they basically file your tooth half off & then cover it with epoxy resin, the same stuff that has BPA. I’m not kidding! So after I had the root canal I was pretty upset because I don’t want a bunch of BPA leaching into my mouth all the time. I decided to not go back in & have the crown put on. The dentist tried to scare me into doing it because he said the temporary filling isn’t strong & my tooth will get weaker & weaker & then will crack. But my dad said that he’s had a temporary filling in for years after a root canal & never had any problems with it. Plus, if I did have problems I would just have them pull it out. I wish I had just done that in the beginning. It would have been cheaper too.
I don’t know if this is helpful to you or not but just thought I’d share my situation.
Wishing you the best & I hope Jeff is out of pain soon!
Oh, & I also have stomach problems like acid reflux & ulcers/gastritis. I wonder if there is a connection to infected teeth…
