-Waking up to a magical world that looked like twilight, with the forest glowing around me. Had the look of a storm, which always excites me.
-A warm fire in the woodstove on a chilly day.
-Making a delicious batch of buttermilk with milk from our neighbor’s cow. The baby needs calcium right now and I imagine baby was very happy about it.
-Having the day turn to sunshine and taking a break with Jeff to soak up some rays in the garden.
-Hiking with the dogs up the mountain. Feels so good to get my body moving and breathe the fresh air.
-Bringing treats to the goats that made them really happy. Delighting in their big pregnant bellies, knowing that we are going to have baby goats born here soon!
-Seeing all the new things Jeff is creating in his shop today. We are going to have a full booth this weekend!
-Spending time in the kitchen, pretending I am a gourmet chef
-Watching the garden changing
-A big blessing today was doing something loving towards my spirit. Last night I realized I hadn’t spent any time in my art room in a loooong time. I have a book I started a few years ago. I hadn’t written any new pages for it in… (I honestly can’t even remember the last time I did.) I decided that I will always have “things to do”, but my spirit needs to be fed just as much as my body does. And lately I’ve been focusing all of my energy on my body’s needs. And my spirit wanted to create some artwork! So today I listened to a favorite radio show and then listened to music while I colored with bright vibrant colors. I finished a new page in the book! I had the window open and could hear the chickens outside. The dogs layed outside the window (I think they like that radio show too.)
It was fantastic!
And it made me think how easy it can be for all of us to get so busy with daily living that we forget to take time out to do things we love. I love cooking, gardening, being with the animals, and so many things that are a part of my everyday life, which is wonderful. My usual “splurge” I do for myself is to write blog posts because it brings me so much joy. But there are things that my spirit loves (like creating artwork, singing, and dancing) that I tend to neglect because I get so busy doing other things. There are things I love that I deem “necessary” so I put them at the top of my priority list. The “unessentials” tend to fall way to the bottom. But really, they are so vitally important because they feed and rejuvenate me so deeply.
So what is something that you love to do that you haven’t taken the time to do lately?
I encourage you to go out and do it!
