Some seemingly-simple things feel momentous around here.
The “first salad” is one of those occasions that call for celebration.
And tonight we did indeed celebrate as we enjoyed the first salad from our garden this year!

And tonight we did indeed celebrate as we enjoyed the first salad from our garden this year!
What a good feeling it is to be eating out of the garden.
It featured:
From Our Garden:
A wide variety of Lettuce
Cilantro
Watercress
Kale Flowers
From Our “Girls”:
Hardboiled Eggs
From local, Deck Family Farm:
Bacon (from pastured pigs)
From The Store:
Avocados
Topped with Jeff’s (in-the-moment-inspiration) homemade dressing
Giving thanks for that most incredible dinner.
What are you giving thanks for today?

I say hooray for sustainable, humane, pasture fed, local meat too!! And I love the fact that we can eat bacon together. lol.
It was a big step for me to start mentioning eating meat on my blog because I have lots of vegetarian friends that don’t like hearing about it, which made me a little hesitant. But I love to be and express who I am and people can take what they like. 🙂

I love your salad! I also love that you guys are down with meat and bacon. I was at the market getting some Sweetbriar bacon ends last weekend (I know, coming into town for Market that one time was a slippery slope) and I ran into someone I knew who asked what I was getting. I said bacon, and she got quite a surprised look on her face. I say, hooray for sustainable, humane, pasture fed, local meat! And bacon!
