Something I’m celebrating today is the first day of hanging laundry on the line this season!
I know, I know, it sounds kind of silly… getting all excited about hanging laundry up to dry.
But here’s why I love it:
-I get to soak up sunshine while I’m hanging the clothes up
-I am drying our clothes for free
-It’s a good reason to be outside enjoying the beautiful day
-It’s good for the earth
-I can see Jeff working in the garden while I unload the laundry basket
-Background music of birdsong
-The more time I spend outside, the merrier I am
-When clothes soak up sun, somehow they feel really good to wear
-Our clothes smell so fresh afterwards
-You can put on a pair of pajama pants all warmed up from a day in the sun, to keep you cozy at night
What do you love about hanging clothes to dry in the sun?

Hello Mary!
We got rid of our dryer a few years ago as well. We are very happy drying our laundry in the sun or by the woodstove. π
Nice to hear other people doing the same and enjoying it.
Yes, it is soooo good for the environment, makes a big impact.
Love, Taryn

I love the same things that you love as well as I know it is a great thing to do for the environment. I no longer have a dryer so I air dry year round on a laundry drying rack. Outside whenever the weather cooperates and inside the rest of the time. My utility bill went down 6-10% every month the first year I did with out a dryer when I compared to the year before. That is keeping a lot of CO2 out of the atmosphere.

Wow, look how many ladies we have that are passionate about hanging clothes to dry, I love it! π
Crystal- I shake out each piece of clothing before I put them away in the basket to shake the bugs off. Best when the bugs stay outside. lol.
dw- thanks for all the tips!
Lara- I can just picture your clothes blowing in the breeze with the beautiful fields all around.
Isabel- Thank you. It’s wonderful to hear from you. π

Oh, I love hanging clothes out to dry! It’s such a zen activity for me. And I can echo a lot of what you said as the benefits. Another practical benefit is that the sun helps to whiten & erase stains naturally. It is also great for getting rid of germs if you are fighting fungal infections of any kind. Wonderful for hanging out cloth diapers! And the other benefit I thought of is that everything is so smooth & wrinkle free afterwards that it makes folding a breeze. π Oh, one more: if you hang things to dry that are going to get hung up in the closet later, just put them on hangers from the get-go. It saves time & energy because once they are dry you just have to hang them up in the closet. I keep a bunch of hangers by my laundry room just for this.

I love it too! just wish we didn’t have so many bugs down here! If I forget to get it before it gets dusk I get some tag-a-longs in the laundry bin. Not a good surprise!
I love the smell I think the most. Everything is so clean and fresh. Nothing can recreate that smell.
