Crystal- I didn’t know that bunnies like them! I’ll keep that in mind if we ever have any. We love attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds into the garden. I just planted some Hyssop herb this year for that purpose.
dw- Nematodes are tiny bugs that cause damage to roots. I WISH marigolds repelled slugs, that would be fantastic! I’m not really sure how many you need, but the more the merrier.
Abby- Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it. Being in the garden is so good for the soul.
I knew they repelled SOMEthing, but wasn’t sure it was nematodes. So thanks for the tip! You guys have the most amazing garden! I loved reading your and Jeff’s post about your day gardening in the rain.
Nematodes are slugs & such, right? I have a bunch of marigold seedlings in my greenhouse. We just got our tomato/pepper bed prepared & this week I hope to get the tomatoes & peppers planted. I’ll make sure to include the marigolds too! The slugs sure loved my peppers, I almost don’t have any seedlings left. š How many marigold plants do you need to provide protection to the vegetables?
I believe you can also make a tea with them and they’re yummy bunny treats! I also use them (since they’re so inexpensive) to put around the bed to attract bees and other polinators. didn’t know about the nematode thing!
