I picked blackberries last week for the first time this season. They were tart, but delicious. Today the berries were much sweeter. I hiked up the mountain behind our house with the dogs and goats. The goats hung out with us for a little while and then headed back down to the house to graze closer to home. Then the dogs and I ventured up the mountain further, to where the blackberries were. Sweetie and Satcha ate the ones close to the ground (yes- our dogs love berries) while I picked the ones higher up. I enjoy free, nutritious food growing wild!
What I love about blackberry picking is that it brings your awareness into the present moment.
If your mind starts to drift, you get poked by a thorn.
If you are mindful, you gracefully pick the ripe berries without a scratch.

The present moment is such a beautiful place to be.
What brings you into the present moment?

dw- I love hearing about other people’s dogs eating berries too! It’s so funny to see. 🙂
I do love daydreaming too. 🙂 Kids are great for bringing us into the present, what a gift.
I love your comments.

I love blackberries! I have many wonderful memories from childhood of picking warm juicy berries with my brother & sister. And I totally believe that your dogs eat them because my dog, Starlight, used to pick them herself off the vines. She would curl back her lips so she wouldn’t get poked. So funny!
I am a daydreamer so I don’t often spend significant amounts of time in the present. Maybe this is bad for some people, but I love remembering happy times from the past or manifesting wonderful new ideas for the future. I’m a visionary & always have something new under my sleeve. Of anything, I think my kids bring me to the present the most. As a parent, you have to live in the present when you are interacting with them because that is where they spend most of their time. Maybe that’s why I enjoy daydreaming so much nowadays… 😉
