I love being at home. Every day I am grateful to live here and grateful to work from here. Our daily activities change with the seasons, but our days are always full. Full in the best way. Full of things we love.
Caring for baby Bracken. Hauling firewood. Watering the garden. Cooking. Working together in Jeff’s magical workshop. Feeding animals. Trimming goat hooves with patience and good humor. Planting seeds. Sweeping wood floors covered in sunshine. Hanging laundry to dry. Taking pictures of Jeff’s art with split logs and clumps of moss for the background. Doing dishes. Harvesting in the garden with baskets in hand. Putting new items on our online Etsy store. Filling up the pantry. Picking berries…….
Recently I read a blog post that our friend Lara wrote about homemaking.
You can read it here: Ma Ingalls Was a Working Mother
(She just submitted it to MaryJanesFarm magazine, so wish her luck. I think she’s brilliant.)
I was glad Lara included Ma Ingalls in her article because I just adore those books and I laughed when I read what some people have said to her about staying at home. I have had people ask me if I get bored, so I could relate. That question is hilarious to me.
It’s nice to hear other people who love to work from home as much as we do. We work from home because it is the life that brings joy to our hearts. Some people need traveling. Some people need the excitement of the city. A stack of wood brings excitement to me. And yes, I actually do like doing dishes.

Being at home is such a gift and there is so much work to be done but it is so soul-filling that the days just go quickly as our routines and rhythms continue.
Thank you for sharing your friend’s link.
Warm wishes, Tonya

I love this beautiful post, Taryn. I have a deep soul need to be at home. Beginning next week I will be caring for a little one (8 wks) during the days, and I am so grateful to remain at home.

Thanks Taryn! I’m glad you liked the homemaking post! This coming from a homemaking/homesteading inspiration like yourself means so much! I love hearing about how much joy you find in all of it every day. Stacks of wood are way exciting!
