A recent culinary discovery for us has been raw vegetable juices.
Fruit juices tend to be too ungrounding for me- getting that large amount of fruit all at once. But small amounts of vegetable juice is a treat indeed!
It feels cleansing, refreshing, and detoxifying.

Our favorite is
Carrot
Beet
Celery
Ginger
Sometimes a little apple, parsley, cilantro added
The zippy ginger is the best!
Have you ever tried raw vegetable juices? Do you like them?
What are your favorite blends?

Lindsey- I loved your post! Thanks for sharing!
Pippa-I am so grateful that my birth story has given you courage to have a homebirth. I was so grateful for the experience of that.
My husband and I love your address! When we got your order on Etsy, we said it was the coolest sounding address we had ever heard of. 🙂
I love the tree pendant you chose and can’t wait for you to see it in person (it’s so much better than the picture.) I’ll tell my husband what your daughter said about our shop. That is so sweet. It warms my heart.
Thanks for your message.

We were gifted a juicer a couple of years ago & our juicing comes & goes in waves. Adam always makes a fresh juice when he makes breakfast with the kiddos on Sunday! Our favorite is apple, celery, carrot, beet.
Sometimes with a bit of fresh garlic & spinach added in (but with the garlic sometimes we have to add some more apple &/or honey to make it more palatable for the kids)

Oh, this has made me want to set my juicing machine up again! There isn’t much room in our caravan, but I’m sure I can find a place. I used to use it a lot and was sure that I felt better for drinking it. Also great for the children, to be able to sneak the odd sprout and carrot in with the fruit.
Thanks for your comments on my blog. I read your birth story and it put a lump in my throat. I have had my previous babies in hospital and am lucky that I have good, quick births, but I’d love to have this little baby at home and reading your birth story has given me a lot of confidence to push for this. I doubt the midwives will like the idea, but it just feels like the best place.
I can’t wait for my pendent to arrive. You’ve no idea how long it took to choose!! My little girl was sitting beside me, she calls your Etsy shop “that place with all the pretty things”! I will wear it throughout this pregnancy and will be a nice thing for the baby to play with during feeding/sling-wearing etc.
Love
Pippa

Wow, $10? Score!!
I tried juicing stuff this morning and really liked it!
I posted about it here: http://herbangardener.com/2011/02/22/juice-your-kitchen-scraps/
I’ll definitely start doing it now and then, especially with those leftover beet chunks from beet kvass!

Lindsey- I’ve always been down on juicing too for the same reasons. It didn’t seem natural to me either. But I’ve heard so much about the health benefits from it. And it is so yummy. I like that I can feel the life force in it.
Lol- my hubby came with one too, then we just found a better one for $10 secondhand!

I want to try this. I’ve always been down on juicing because it separates the fiber from the veggie and that just didn’t seem natural. But then I read somewhere that veggie juices, as an adjunct to your regular veggie consumption, are great because they allow you to take in many more vitamins than you normally would. As long as they don’t replace your normal veggies, juicing can be beneficial.
And since my hubby “came” with a juicer, I might as well dust it off and actually use it!
