Here are some things that brought me Joy today:
-A very productive morning getting so much done around the house. Clean, cozy, warm, peaceful….ahhh…. home sweet home! (It’s amazing how I like our house so much better when it’s clean and organized.)
-Making two batches of fermented beet kvass. (What is it? I wrote a post about it here: You just gotta love beet kvass! ) My body loves it so much and I hadn’t made it in a long time. Experimented and made it with a starter culture instead of whey. Now we wait a few days and we’ll have an incredible, healing drink!
-A barn full of baby goats greeting me this morning when I came down to fill the hay bin.
-Seeing sweet messages in my inbox after taking two days away from the computer this week. The breaks make me appreciate computer time even more.
-Cooking cabbage on the woodstove. Happy to be cooking on there more!
-A hike up the mountain. Movement + fresh air + mountain views + the forest + quiet time in nature + content baby Bracken in the pack = Happy Mama!
-Taking pictures of daffodils, wind chimes, and flowering plum blossoms in the afternoon light. (Thanks photography Angels for helping me get such good pictures!) Our front yard was aglow with beauty. The tiny pink blossoms were lightly scattered across the water on the pond. We’ve put so much time, love and energy into creating this garden into a sanctuary… seeing our dreams coming to life is so fulfilling. The light through the forest illuminating all the petals made everything feel holy.
-A conversation filled with a lot of laughter. Laughter is so healing. I really think it can heal our very cells.
-Jeff making an incredible batch of soup.
-Jeff transplanting all the lavender to a new location around the pond in the front yard. A bunch of the lavender I had started from seed (which I was very proud of), but realized it didn’t get enough sun in the bed where I planted it. Now it will be happy when the sun warms the rocks up behind it. And the old lavender bed is going to be our new asparagus bed! So excited! Have I mentioned that I love lavender? a lot? Having it all over the front yard brings a big smile.
Every night before I go to bed, I write down 10 things I’m grateful for that day. Instead of writing mine in my journal tonight, I decided to share it with all of you. Usually my list ends up being longer than 10 things. No matter how my day has gone- if I’ve burnt lunch, spilled things, stubbed my toe, caught the “grouchy bug” or didn’t sleep well- if I end my day with the nightly ritual of counting my blessings, it helps end the day the right way. This daily tradition brings peace to my heart, gives me a higher perspective, and helps me to cultivate gratitude every moment of my life. It’s one of the most loving things I do for myself each and every day. When we notice and appreciate gifts and blessings, more flow in. Gratitude is truly the secret to a magical and joyful life.
Do you have gratitude for all the good things in your life?
Have you counted your blessings today?

Lindsey- We have so much in common, that doesn’t surprise me!
I am curious how your beet kvass with just salt turns out. I’ve always wanted to try that.
I am so glad you have a blessings journal! They can change the world…. π
Love!

Your daily joys always resonate with me – we love such similar things! I agree — having a clean house makes the difference of me wanting to hang out in it, and me wanting to leave!
And we’re thinking the same thing with beet kvass experimentation — I just started a batch with just salt and no whey or anything — can’t wait to see how it turns out. Next batch I’ll use brine from my lacto-fermented pickles.
I also keep a daily blessings journal that I write in at the end of the day. It is THE way to end a day! And a wonderful chronicle of life, I find. Reading my gratitude journal from 7 years ago, I can really relive those sweet, simple moments that I would have forever forgotten about had I not written them down in my journal. π
Thanks for sharing your blessings!

I’m not sure how far our neighbor is? We can see a few houses from our place (only in the winter when the leaves are off the trees.) But we are blessed with privacy, and for that I am so grateful!
Trish- Thanks so much and I’m so glad you found my blog!! π Welcome!
Coffee- Love hearing about the good things in your life! π

Love and Light,

P.S.–I had tried to comment on your post about visitors after birth, but it floated off into cyberspace. I just wanted to let you know that I have included a link to your post in my “Empowering Reads for Mommas” list. I am a midwife, and you stated so well something that I am always trying to emphasize to my clients. Babies are so sensitive to energy, and I hope that reading your post will really help get that idea through to the women and families that I serve. Thank you!! <3

I had such a laugh at myself after reading your post..you see I was reading about Bee Kvass and thinking what on earth is that and where do the bees come into it. I clicked on the link and saw this purple liquid with ‘lumps’ down the bottom of the jar and thought..those lumps can’t possibly be bees…and then I noticed the ‘t’ in beet. Yes I am laughing at myself right now. π I thought I’d share that with you because I think you’ll share a laugh with me too.
Your photos and word pictures are something Taryn. You’ve got a gift there just as Jeff does with his heartfelt carving.
