We picked up our ducks at the feed store today! I held them in a cardboard box on my lap and watched them the whole ride home. They are so cute. I mean really really cute.
When we arrived home, Jeff got them all cozy in the bathtub downstairs. (We never use that bathtub, except for soaking and washing wool and for occasional showers. We use the bathtub upstairs.) He lined it with fresh straw and filled up their feeder and waterer. He put in a heat lamp to keep them warm and cozy. Then he brought in a fresh tray of greens from the greenhouse. They might be a little young to eat it yet, but they had fun putting the grass in their little bills and it makes a fun little jungle for them to play in and explore.
Bracken was so fascinated watching them.
I am so excited to have ducks. What a fun new adventure we are on!
I’m sure I’ll be spending a lot more time in the bathroom than usual……….

So many duck fans out there! 🙂
We have 20 in total. (A LOT I know.) Ordering just girls was really expensive so we ordered the mix and we ordered a lot to make sure we’ll get plenty of girls.
We are raising them for eggs. And they will be on slug patrol! Hooray! I’ve tried duck eggs from our neighbor’s and I liked them.

How adorable! My husband and I would like to keep ducks one day (not enough room at the moment-one day)
Enjoy your adventure,

We used to have ducks when I was little, my brother was especially attached to them, he named them all :))) they are so much fun, and really really sweet, even as they get older, and they are such good bug finders… I love chickens, but I love ducks more… and they are more careful and discerning with your garden, which I really love them for :)))
