Sunshine in the garden
I heart sunny days
Yesterday we had brilliant sunshine.
We exclaimed over the asparagus starting to pop up and the grapes starts growing leaves on them! So fun to watch the garden changing so quickly day by day. We’ve been getting a lot done in the workshop, which is very satisfying. We’re excited about so many new creations!
Today was rainy, which made for a productive day indoors.
Jeff and I have both been learning similar lessons regarding physical limitations. I got a sore throat last week, felt slightly under the weather, and then hurt my shoulder. Jeff hurt his back and then got a sore throat. We both get frustrated when we need to slow down because there is always so much we need to do around here (and it’s hard to keep up even when we are feeling our best), but honestly sometimes we need to slow down a bit and our bodies force us to. We are still learning to accept this gracefully. (And to let go of the guilt of not getting everything done that we want to.) I’ve had to get creative because I usually carry Bracken in the Ergo carrier on my belly and that’s how I get things done around here. Since hurting my shoulder (and it started cramping down my back) I’ve had to carry him in it less than usual. Sometimes I’ve held him and done things one-handed, sometimes I’ve put him in the johnny jump up while I packaged up Etsy orders, and layed him on the blanket with his toys while I folded laundry. We still get lots of snuggle time while he nurses and we are always side by side, just not in the pack as much as we are used to. He is at the age now where toys are becoming more interesting, so I can do more things while he plays at my feet.
The warm sun yesterday soothed my shoulder and back, along with a warm bath, and laying flat while I slept. I am on the mend and I’m humbled to realize all the things my body does for me each and every day that I take for granted. In the meantime, we’re doing what we are able and constantly learning to love and appreciate our bodies more and more.
I felt like sharing because I am sure so many of you can relate to this.
Are you feeling grateful for all the amazing things your body does for you every day?

Thanks Amanda! We LOVE epsom salt baths! And I had forgotten about arnica.
Love!

You never realize how often you swallow every day until you have a sore throat. 🙁
I love arnica for any kind of muscle injury, and salt and soda baths too–1 lb sea salt (you can use the cheapest kind for this) plus 1 lb baking soda in a warm bath, and then soak for at least 20 minutes. Very relaxing and detoxifying.
I hope that you and Jeff both are feeling better soon.
Love and Light,
=Amanda=

Oh, life has a way of sending us messages 🙂 I injured myself too, a few weeks ago, right at the time when I was starting to get too busy and needed to slow down. I hope you are in top shape again soon 🙂
