The garden is a wild jungle right now! Our season seemed so late this year, but now the garden is looking like a summer garden. This morning we went out to water and harvest, and I took some pictures while everything was all aglow.
The sunflowers are getting tall along the greenhouse, but not blooming yet.
I love the bright vibrant yellows and oranges of the calendula. It comes up on it’s own each year and is a welcome sight.
The zucchini is massive! Bye-bye farmer’s market zucchini, hello homegrown garden zucchini! It feels good to be harvesting zucchini in the backyard.
The runner beans are taller than we are now, growing beyond their trellises.
The blossoms on them are so beautiful!
They add so much beauty to the garden and remind us of sweet peas.
I had fun capturing them on camera.
There is something I love about seeing them wrap around their trellises.
Whether fence…
Or sticks.
They reach for that sun with gusto!
You can see I was very enthusiastic about runner beans this morning.
There is squash galore in the garden. They are covering pathways and making it a creative dance to get everything watered without stepping on anything. I love the heart shaped leaves!
We’ve been eating chard (as you can tell on the right.)
We grew a few varieties, but the Bright Lights Chard is our favorite. So colorful!
Reiki came to join us while we watered. She used to be hanging out with the goats all the time. She and Grr have been mourning since the goats went to their new home, they were good friends with them, but they’re adjusting. They’ve been spending more time with us, near the house, which has been nice.
So friends, what’s growing in your August gardens?
your garden looks beautiful! i’ve only got a couple more weeks left in my growing season–sadness!
So gorgeous! I love growing things as well . . . and some doings with old pallets that you and Jeff will enjoy (think you need to copy and paste):

I love your garden!
My garden was getting very overgrown so yesterday I cleared a lot of the hops out and pruned. I found some beautiful little creatures in doing so and felt quite guilty for disturbing them.
Much love
My heavens, your garden is beautiful- so full of love and care!
Ooo, look at your garden!!!! I love your bright lights chard. I’ve always wanted to try that variety. Maybe this year, for autumn.
I keep hoping my zucchini will hurry up! Our season was really late too, made even later by me not getting things planted as soon as I wanted. But my garden’s coming along too, finally. 🙂
I love your greenhouse! Reiki is such a gorgeous kitty! Those eyes!
Loved your pictures in the morning light. 🙂 Lots of love to you!!!
Your garden is so pretty. Mine is almost done. That is so strange to see the difference. I am getting ready to plant the fall garden soon. My zuchinni did not do well this year at all. I think I got 4. As well as the squash. So I will try some more. But I am still getting corn and cucumbers and beans. Love those beans.
Beautiful! The ones I’m crossing my fingers for are the tomatoes. We got a wonderful selection of heirloom tomato starts from Boondockers Farm and we’re starting to have a bunch of green fruit…hoping we don’t have an early September freeze like last year!
