When blueberry season comes, we’re picking regularly. We find ways to work it into our schedule. This morning the garden was all watered and Jeff woke up even earlier than usual and surprised me with a delicious breakfast. So we headed down the road for a morning blueberry harvest. We figured we could pick till it got hot, then head back home and work indoors during the heat of the day. We like to pick early in the morning or later in the afternoon when it’s a really hot summer day.
We arrived to see some beautiful deer in the field. The berries were all covered in morning dew. It was overcast and perfect for picking.
Bracken hung out with me for awhile.
Then he hung out with his dad. The sun came out and it felt so good to soak up that morning light.
“I see you!”
We got really excited about blueberries (this is Bracken’s excited face.) We kept saying “Whoa, check out this bush! It’s loaded!”
We visited the goats. It was so nice to see them so happy and well-adjusted in their new place. With full buckets, we looked lovingly at the blueberry field, knowing we’d be back soon, and got in the truck to go home.
Oh, how wonderful it is to have fresh local fruit around the house!
Have you been harvesting this summer?
I LOVE this post! What sweet photos of Jeff and Bracken picking blueberries! How blissful 🙂
As I recall, Bracken was in-womb last time there were blueberry picking pictures on your blog!
I wish we had a u-pick farm close-by!! Enjoy those berries.
Love

A wonderful family outing- thanks for sharing! Katie picked at a PYO place up the road this morning. Four pies-worth in the freezer and more for immediate use. Keeping our fingers crossed for a good blackberry season.
Mmm, makes my stomach rumble just looking at the pictures! You guys are too dang cute… love Brackens smile. 🙂
