This morning we left early to do some blueberry picking. I realized I hadn’t been picking since the Friday before last. It seemed like forever. In honor of the occasion I put on my blueberry blue shirt.
It’s fun to match your harvest.
(I tied the bucket onto the Ergo carrier so I could have both hands free for picking.)
Here Jeff is showing the bucket trick too. Many of you probably do this. The first times we picked, we held the bucket in one hand and picked with the other. We realized if we tied a rope on either side of the handle and hung it around our neck, we would have both hands free which made for much faster picking. I’ve been asked if this hurts your neck. If your bucket gets really full and heavy, it can start putting pressure on your neck. (A nice thick guitar strap would be more comfortable than a rope.) I just empty the bucket into a box whenever it gets too heavy. Jeff tied his around his overall straps today and I tied mine around the carrier, so neither of us had to worry about sore necks. It’s amazing how much easier a simple rope can make harvesting!
The berries are at the peak of ripeness right now so the picking was much easier.
As for matching the harvest, I’m not the only one that loves doing that…
My mom blended beautifully with the blueberry field when we went picking.
(I love this picture she took of Bracken chewing on my hat strap while I harvested.)
And I referred to our friend Allison as the “blueberry goddess” when she went picking in this dress.
Do you like to match your harvest?
Awww, sweet!
And Bracken matches too, with his incredible blue eyes! I love that picture of him, heehee!
We had not thought of matching our harvest, how fun! Nor had we thought of the awesome trick of tying the bucket.
I love your blueberry shirt, and your little Bracken is so very sweet! I think he’s younger than my baby, who is 13 months?
pretty! everyone’s in blue! (even bracken with his blue eyes…)
