Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
-Rain. And the fresh energy and rejuvenation it brings.
–
-Listening to music in the house and how it lifts all our spirits so much!
–
-A fruit smoothie and a raw veggie juice tasting delicious to me when nothing was really sounding good.
–
-Slowly getting my appetite back. After all, eating is one of my very favorite pleasures in the world!
–
-Butternut squash with home-rendered lard on top. Yum!
–
-Jeff harvesting lots of sunflowers in the garden. Now we’ll have sunflower seeds to eat, to sprout in the winter for eating, and seeds to plant more sunflowers next year.
–
-Enjoying a wonderful book I requested from the library. ‘The Creative Family’ by Amanda Blake Soule. What an inspiring read!
–
-A few moments in grape heaven. Our neighbor said we could harvest all the grapes we wanted in exchange for making his family some jam. Those concord grapes are so good.
–
–Some gorgeous autumn days with sunshine that we gratefully soaked up.
–
–Journaling before bed when I needed a little clarity and having it give me a fresh perspective. Journaling nurtures me so much. It tends to be very short and brief these days, since I am so tired at bedtime, but even a few minutes is a nice gift to myself.
–
-The restorative power of naps.
–
-Selling some of our new salve for the first time. How exciting!
–
-My mom calling and saying “do three things to pamper yourself today!” I did. It was very appreciated. (Thanks for the reminder mom!)
–
-The kind words of supportive, loving people.
–
-Moments filled with so much laughter, with the three of us. Laughter makes life so much fresher, doesn’t it?
–
-Getting a little more baby-proofing done around the house. One step at a time, right?

-Jeff and I working as a team, while we both had a bug and felt bogged down. We fell behind in our work and felt frustrated because we wanted to feel vibrant, energetic, and be moving at the speed of light. It’s hard to be inspired when you don’t feel well. But, alas, we surrendered to a slower pace than we would have liked, nurtured ourselves- body and spirit, and loved each other. Life will be back to productive and creative soon. I can see light at the end of the tunnel!
–
-Deciding to stay home, rather than go to market yesterday. As the heavy rain came pouring down all day, I was so thankful we were warm by our cozy fire.

-Bracken asleep in my (other) arm while I write this. I love when he snuggles up, nurses, and then falls asleep against me with his soft, warm breath. It makes me feel so very blessed.

What have you felt grateful for throughout your week?
I thought id stop by your blog and say hello. And i hope your enjoying the beautiful fall weather that has begun. Richard from Amish Stories.
Beautiful list – I have been so tired when I fall into bed that I haven’t been writing in my journal as much as I’d like. You are reminding me it can just be short and sweet and still powerful π
Hi Taryn!
What a beautiful hydrangea photo!
I am loving fruit smoothies right now too, they seem to be just right for a very finicky tummy.
It’s no fun to have no appetite! I love eating too! π
Hah, how funny, I just got done reading The Creative Family too! A lovely book, huh!
Thank goodness for journaling, I agree!! It really helps so much, in all situations.
I can’t wait to buy some of your salve! I think that’s so cool…
Laughter! It makes the world go ’round π π
So glad you stayed cozy by your fire instead of schlepping yourselves to a soggy market. Good call. π
Your little sleeping Bracken sounds so sweet…
Much love to you! I will write you an email soon!!
And here’s my list this week:

Thanks for reminding me that no matter how tired I am or how many worries of the world are weighing me down, I have so much to be grateful for.
I am grateful for:
The little voice I hear every morning, babbling to herself as she wakes up happy.
The bounty my garden has provided, so far 6 Butternuts, 5 pumpkins, three green peppers, basil, chive, and too many zucchini to count.
The support of my parents and my in-laws while my husband works long hours away from home.
