The garden is slowing down. We are still harvesting zucchini, kale, celery, chard, sunflowers and herbs, but no longer runner beans or cucumbers. My eyes have turned to the winter squash. Every time we visit the garden, I notice the butternut squash getting a little less green and a little more yellow. Our garden doesn’t get as much sun as we would like and we weren’t sure if our crop of winter squash would finish in time (and we planted a lot.) I keep cheering it on as I envision filling up the pantry. A big basket of colorful winter squash would look so beautiful in there….
“Come on winter squash, you can do it!”
We all need a little cheering on sometimes, don’t we?
I took this picture on a sunny day last week. It feels funny to be posting a sunshiny picture right now while we are having an absolute downpour outside.

What are you excited about in your fall garden?

Look at those beautiful perfect squashes!
We didn’t get any winter squash and only one zucchini this year, darn. (But it’s OK, makes up for other years!) I hope yours make it in time!!!

I harvested the last of the winter squash this weekend (butternuts and acorns) and am now excited about the fall sprouts (broccoli, beets, carrots, kale, spinach, lettuce and peas) popping up alongside all the fading summer veggies! My fingers are crossed for your butternuts! They’re looking good!

I’ve been reducing my time on the computer, but wanted to check in with you. Glad to see everything is coming along fine. We harvested butternuts a few weeks ago; I’ll keep my fingers crossed for yours!
I’ve planted a Fall garden of peas, carrots, beets, and chard. I’m excited to see the sprouts popping up, and looking forward to moving my lettuce seedlings outdoors once it cools down enough.

am willing the pumpkins to grow some more here and hoping for the last of the tomatoes to ripen and would feel incredibly blessed if we managed just one more cucumber xx
