To make the magnets:
Jeff sliced local maple wood. Then he sanded each one, giving them a nice shape (see how beautifully rounded the edges are?) When he had them sanded smooth, he burnt the edges to give them a rustic border. Then I hand-wrote the words and designs. Then he carved each by hand, then carefully painted in the letters to create contrast. Then he glued a few magnets on the back (he chose powerful magnets so they stay up, not like so many of those flimsy magnets that always fall.) He finished them up by oiling them with some natural walnut oil.
I took pictures this morning and just got them posted on our shop.
We are selling them for $25 each (such an incredible deal for hand-carved, hand-written, handmade magnets!) and the Sweetheart’s Magnet is only $20!
Oh, did I mention we are really excited?!
