.
-Making the most of the last day of farmer’s market by stocking up on cabbage for making kraut and apples for making applesauce. (And now we have time to do it!)
.
-Buying two loads of firewood from a guy down the road and appreciating a warm home.
-Acting on a feeling to check the butternut squashes we were storing in Jeff’s outdoor shop, that we had grown in the garden. It had gotten colder than we thought out there and they had frozen. We got to them just in time before they went bad. (Then we ate a lot of squash.)
.
-Nights when Jeff kept the fire going all night long, so our home was cozy. (Did I write that last week? If so, grateful for that again!)
.
-My mom calling and cheering me up early in the week when I was feeling grouchy. She made me laugh, I took a relaxing bath, and my day turned around.
.
-Washing my hair with baking soda for the first time and loving it! I had heard of it over the years and was curious, then read this post by our friend Aja and decided to go for it. I stopped using shampoo a long time ago for many reasons (will write more about that soon), but didn’t want my hair to be greasy. Using baking soda was amazing!
.
-Solstice.
.
-One morning when I did sit ups. I was feeling a little intimidated to face the day (slightly overwhelmed with market) and doing some sit ups made me feel so much stronger in myself, which gave me more confidence to be ready for the day.
.
-Seeing friends at market!
.
-Running into our midwife at market. We hadn’t seen her in so long and it felt like such a gift.
.
-Trades at market. We felt so blessed.
.
-Giving gifts. Receiving gifts.
.
-Our friend offering to sell some of our wooden earrings in her shop, right after I had just thought I wished we had a store to sell them in throughout the winter! Loved the synchronicity.
.
-Being done with market! It was a blend of wonderful, love-filled, exhausting, overwhelming… and we were so relieved when it was over. We like a balance of time at home in the woods and time out in the world connecting with people. Holiday Market tends to tip the scales for us and be a little too much at times. So we feel grateful to have some regeneration time at home.
.
-Jeff getting the entire truck unloaded when we came home from market on Christmas Eve. He wanted to do it before the rain came and the next morning it was pouring, so he looked outside with a smile.
.
-Finishing making our family’s homemade stockings after Bracken fell asleep on Christmas Eve. I was so happy I finished them just in time.
.
-Watching Bracken opening up his stocking and presents on Christmas morning. That was so fun.
.
-Having a wonderful Christmas. We played guitars together and sang. We turned on the music and danced around the house. We ate good food. We relaxed. We laughed. We watched a favorite show. We all played together with a few of Bracken’s new toys on the floor. (And during Bracken’s nap I worked on a needle-felted creature in wool that I started before he was born. I hadn’t needle-felted in so long and it was a true gift to my Spirit to have time to play with wool and create.)
.
-Being back in this space.

I read this and loved it, but am just now commenting… what a nice list. I’m glad…for you…that you’re done with market this year. I can imagine how it would tip the scales of balance and just begin feeling really overwhelming and like “too much.”
I hope it was a good year for you guys.
Your Christmas sounds just wonderful! Just right 🙂 And how fun that Bracken’s a little older so he can enjoy opening his presents! How fun that must have been.
Amazing how a chat with a mom and a hot bath can turn a day around! Sweet 🙂
How nice to feel that you now have time for things you were putting off before market, and time for applesauce and kraut! Wonderful.
I love the holidays so much, but this year in particular I am actually enjoying them being over now. Getting to move onto fresh new things, and projects that got put aside.
Love to you! We had beautiful warm weather today and after doing lots of inside stuff for most of the day, I rode my bike to the library, then to the grocery store. It felt good. Hoping you had a nice day too.
Love,
Lindsey

This week I’m grateful for:
~ The fact that my house is on a concrete slab, so when it flooded this week the only thing needing replaced are kitchen cabinets.
~ That no one was injured when I was in a car wreck on the 23rd.
~ That my dad was able to fix my car and make it usable again.
~ That my chickens, cats and dogs are all happy and healthy
~ That I can paint on a regular basis.
~ That I have a steady job and a roof over my head.
