Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
-Living in a place that is moss-y, lichen-y, and abundantly green and growing.
.
-Bracken sleeping in = me sleeping in.
.
-Jeff moving a piece of furniture to a new spot that helped immensely with organizing. (We’re really into organizing lately.)
.
-A trade with our friends and neighbors that blessed us with Wild Alaskan Salmon. We felt so grateful for that. Eating it with fresh pressed garlic on top was so good.
.
-Bracken seeing a horse up close for the first time, at our neighbor’s. She was so fuzzy and sweet. He kept pointing at her with huge eyes, seeming to say “Are you guys seeing this?!”
.
-Jeff using the holiday money he was gifted to buy a crock with a spout and a scoby, so we can start brewing our own kombucha again. I’m grateful he used his money for something our whole family can enjoy. (In the past our homebrewed kombucha was never bubbly enough for our liking, but we’ve got some ideas and are excited to try again.)
.
-Seeing a beautiful deer on the way to town with incredible antlers.
.
-Finding organic winter squash on sale at the grocery store. That made us really happy. (Since we already ate all we grew and all we stocked up on from local farms.)
.
-Jeff working on our porch roof to hopefully give it a few more years.
.
-Jeff tearing down the tall, ugly fencing in the front yard (originally there to keep the goats from eating everything.) It opened things up and looked so much better.
.
-Having so much fun putting packages together with gifts, for the first four people to purchase handmades from our Wooly Moss Roots Shop (one more to give out still.) And I do believe all four orders were from dear readers! Thank You!!
.
-Making progress on the wool creature I’m creating, slowly but surely, during a few of Bracken’s naps throughout the week.
.
-Comments readers left on here that made me so happy. I love hearing from you.
.
-Starting to give Bracken cod liver oil every day. He loves his flavored one and I felt so grateful that it was so easy to get him to take it.
.
-The feeling of being home again, after going to town.
.
-Writing my daily gratitudes down every night, which really helps put things in perspective. When I can acknowledge the blessings on challenging days, that feels like a gift.
.
-The way journaling out overwhelming feelings can bring so much peace and clarity.
.
-Being reminded by loved ones to be gentle on myself. (About things like getting ungrounded in social situations. I tend to be hard on myself if I wasn’t as centered, grounded and present as I would have liked to be. Learning and growing is so much easier when I’m loving towards myself.)
.
-Challenges uncovering old patterns that no longer serve me. (Like falling into “people-pleasing” mode rather than staying true to myself.)
.
-Noticing that I had been holding my breath when I was feeling afraid. Then Jeff wrapped his arms around me, giving me a big hug and my breath came back. I’m grateful that his very presence makes me breathe more deeply.
.
-The feeling of coming into a warm house on a cold day.
.
-An outdoor project that was a nice excuse to be out in the fresh air.
.
-All of us cuddled up on the couch, sharing a jar of our home-canned peaches. A special treat.

What have you felt grateful for throughout your week friends?

Journaling is such a gift isn’t it? Sometimes before bed, I have to make a “brain dump” list – its just everything on my mind, from the mundane to the big. Once I write it down, I can let it go until the morning. Sometimes I have to make this list before my gratitude list, so I can be really present to feel all my blessings 🙂 I am so glad your first week of 2012 has been kind and abundant!

Taryn,
Your post are a reminder to me to stop and appreciate all of the things that I have and that are around me. I am a very busy woman..I work 2 full time jobs and go to college full time…and it is very easy to forget to take time for myself, or to appreciate my family.
You truly are an inspiration to me and I am very grateful to you for allowing your readers to share your lives.
Much love,
Pip

Yet again another wonderful list – you inspired me to write down my today. 🙂
Ps: Did you get my email/pictures?

Sweet list Taryn!
That wild salmon sounds so wonderful. Ohhh!
Love Bracken’s reaction to the horse!
Kombucha, yay! I do a double fermentation where I ferment it ALMOST all the way in a big gallon jar with a scoby, and then bottle it up, capping each bottle tightly, and let it ferment the rest of the way. That usually gives nice fizzy kombucha that’s to my liking. (We LOVE fizz here in this house, hehe!)
You already ate that mountain of squash you grew! Wow, I’m impressed!!
How lovely Bracken likes his CLO! That’s convenient ehh!
Sounds like some challenging days…meh… so glad you know the tools to help yourself thru them. I hate feeling ungrounded in social situations. And I hate when I go into people-pleasing mode so as not to ‘make waves.’ Those are two challenges for me too; they’re so hard to overcome sometimes.
Isn’t journalling a gift. It helps so much with so many situations.
What a sweet peach moment on the couch together. 🙂
Here’s my list this week:

I love reading your Gratitude Sunday posts. This week I am very thankful for my wonderful family who let us stay in their house/use their food while they were away for a holiday. It was a really nice break and a chance to spend lots of time as a family.
This week is my first Gratitude Sunday post, I hope to post many more, it is a great way to look back on the week and reflect.

Oh I have just discovered how much I love Kombucha!! I’ve been wanting to look into brewing my own but I know all things come in time…I do not need another thing on my plate at the moment!
