Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
-Bracken handing us his toys so we’d make them talk and come to life. He gets so excited when we do that. Seeing his love for little gnomes and elfs is so fun!
.
-Helping Jeff in the shop. I dried buttons, as he finished sanding them on the wet sander, oohing and aahhing over all the gorgeous new buttons. Bracken hung out in the Ergo against my chest, reaching in a pocket of Jeff’s that was hanging on the wall, and delighting in all the treasures he found in there.
.
-The feeling of getting into fresh clean sheets (still warm from drying by the woodstove) after a bath. I’ll never tire of that.
.
-Bracken playing with his first snowball, that Jeff made for him.
.
-That my body is honest with me about the foods it does and doesn’t like. (Even when the messages are inconvenient because I’d like to be eating something it happens to not like.) I’m glad it communicates so clearly so that I can make healthy choices.
.
-Moments when Bracken was completely immersed in play. It consumed all of his attention and I looked at his silent wonder and smiled. (Many times quiet makes me go “uh oh. what’s he gotten into?” Play quiet is a nice quiet.) 🙂
.
-Learning. We had some experiments in the kitchen that taught us a lot (regarding some new products I’m looking forward to showing you soon!)
.
-Early bedtimes.
.
-Jeff making breakfast right before the power went out.
.
-Lots of progress on wooly creations- knitting and needlefelting- during Bracken’s nap times throughout the week. Almost finished with some projects.
.
-Lots of time together as a family.
.
-Watching the flame on the candle dance, while reading by it’s light before bed.
.
-Reading our MaryJanesFarm magazine. I was so happy to see an article about the health benefits (a great source of calcium for one) of bone broth, which I feel is so important to have in the mainstream. And there was an article about artist Tatjana Raum, whose art touched my spirit so deeply. It was a wonderful issue.
.
-Having a woodstove. So grateful for the warmth it provides and being able to cook our food on it when we need to.
.
-Our phone. I was really grateful to be able to connect with the outside world when our electricity was out.
.
-Opening the windows when the living room got really warm, and hearing the wild winds whirling outside. Nice to be inside, warm and cozy, when it’s stormy outside.
.
-Finding out that our neighbors are safe, after I heard there was a landslide in that area.
.
-Having our electricity back on!! I felt like a whole new person after a warm bath! I felt grateful while doing dishes and washing laundry. And I realized how much I appreciate the internet!
.
-Scrambled eggs for quick and nourishing meals.

Oh my, what a week you’ve had! I’m thankful that all is well with your house and that you didn’t have to hit the floor to dodge a falling tree!
What a beautiful snowy scene in your photo!
What fun to have little Bracken in your home! What a blessing and a joy! He sounds like such a little character!!
So glad your power came back on! I bet you got nervous with all your fridge and freezer stuff. At least it would have been cold outside, to keep the stuff chilled if it had come to that.
Fresh sheets after a bath – OHHHH I know how good that feels!! Clean sheets, clean body.
Family time… so sweet. Priceless.
So glad you have a wood stove to rely upon when the power goes out!
Love your list. Glad you guys are safe & sound with those wild storms.
Here’s my list this week:
