Before:
Our button cards were stark white.
We drilled lots of holes in them, so I could tie on any size set.
I wrote the type of wood on the front.
.
After:
Our new button cards are an off-white/natural/light brown color.
We drilled holes for particular size sets, so there are no leftover holes after we tie on the buttons.
I started writing the type of the wood on the back of the card.
I also started using hemp cord to tie the buttons on with (rather than the cotton cord I was using before.) The hemp is less expensive and it’s more environmentally friendly too, win-win.
I love the ‘Wooly Moss Roots: Handmade Wooden Buttons’ at the top. On the back of the card, we wrote a little about the process of making them.
It reads:
To create our handmade wooden buttons, we start by selecting the most beautiful woods, which are almost always reclaimed and usually local as well. Then we slice them and each button goes through a long shaping and sanding process (at least four sanding and two polishing stages.) Then they are drilled, oiled with a natural finish, and polished on the buffing wheel. Finally we arrange them in families on a card. Each one lovingly handmade from start to finish. We pour a lot of energy into every button, treating each as an individual work of art.

I think our new button cards are much better! We love them!
We got the new button cards done just in time for the button delivery to Stash yarn shop.

If you are in need of some buttons for a creative project, I’ve been posting new sets like crazy in our Shop.
We have quite the variety.
Jeff just finished this gorgeous carved tree button.
(I was so excited to post it on our shop, I took pictures before even putting it on one of our new button cards.)

Wow you guys! The new button cards are awesome. They are beautiful and really showcase each button. I love how you write about the process on the back since probably most people (including me) don’t really know (and therefore can’t appreciate) what goes into making each button!
Nice work 🙂
