Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
-Enjoying the first nettles of the season from our very own nettles patch that we’ve been expanding over the years. We ate them sauteed with scrambled eggs, steamed with other greens, and in soup. We love nettles and fresh ones are even more of a treat!
.
-Having fresh spring greens from our yard that Jeff harvested- nettles, kale, and chives.
.
-Finding blueberries in the freezer! We thought we were all out, and were very happily surprised when I found two whole bags! And I found a bag of frozen raspberries! (Yes, there was lots of vocal celebrating!)
.
-A late night talk with Jeff. It reminded me all over again how very much I love him and how good it feels to be able to talk about everything and be completely understood. Having people in our life who just get us is such a gift!
.
–The local grocery store starting to sell sunflower seed butter! We used to have to drive all the way to Eugene to get it. (It’s so yummy to put a dab on top of some fozen fruit!)
.
-Chicken baked in the oven. Garlic flavored, crispy, crunchy skin. Yum!
.
-Fears lifting with time. I didn’t feel as afraid when there was a mouse in our room one night, as I would have been when I first moved to the country. Progress.
.
-Stretching contentedly in bed, amidst the wonderful feeling of clean sheets.
.
-Baking soda working to get a hard-to-clean pot scrubbed clean. I got quite an arm workout, but by-golly, I got that pot spick and span!
.
-The sound of birds singing in the rain and frogs singing in the rain.
.
-My sister getting engaged! And being able to talk to her again now that she is back from her kayaking course.
.
-All the extra-special meals Jeff made, putting the energy to make our meals even more delicious.
.
-Staying focused, setting goals, and accomplishing a lot.
.
-Jeff having the inspiration for all of us to go out to the greenhouse when we were wanting to go outside, but it was pouring buckets. We got the greenhouse cleaned and organized, all ready for when we start planting. And we gave the plants that were already in there, some much-needed attention.
.
-Connecting with people I love.
.
-Deciding to take a break from a big wool project to finish some smaller ones and get the satisfaction of finishing some things.
.
-Watching Bracken have the time of his life in the bathtub.
.
-Any excuse to laugh, no matter how small. Noticing I accidentally wrote “hi hiney” instead of “hi honey” when I wrote a quick note to Jeff on the computer. haha.
What have you felt grateful for this week?

Thankful that Feijoas and Passionfruits are finally in season, that a fantail visited our house and nibbled the insects in the corners and flew back out the window(no screens here), the balloon festival and fireworks, and our luck to be spending a sabbatical in the bright beauty of New Zealand, one month more to go!

A late night talk with your Honey sounds special. Wonderful you guys have each other.

We’re thankful for the wonderful community-supported agriculture box we signed up for. The first delivery to our neighborhood was last week. We had no idea what would be inside and we were delighted to find fresh broccoli shoots, scallions, big bags of salad greens, braising greens, eggs (lovely colors), sweet and juicy carrots and salad turnips. All organic. They also had fresh dates for sale, which we got as well because they were varieties we don’t see very often and they, too, were a treat.
I am grateful for the blooms on the fruit trees in our yard, hints that we may have lemons and pomegranates and figs later on in the season. Citrus blooms smell so fresh and sweet. I’m glad spring is here!

Having nettles and other garden fresh greens sounds so lovely! My family currently lives in an apartment, so our fresh greens come from the farmer’s market; and we are so grateful for them.
This week, I am grateful for possibilities. There are a lot of changes happening for my family right now. My husband is finishing his degree this month, and we will be moving so he can start a new job. But we don’t know where yet..and that is pretty exciting. So possibilities. I am excited about having adventures and dreaming about how our lives will change. The possibilities of what the future holds for us.
Thank you Taryn. It is lovely to take stock of blessings and remember how sweet life can be.
