Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
-The pure magic of trilliums. Seeing the glowing white flowers throughout the woods filled me with wonder.
.
-The way Bracken has been greeting himself in the mirror these days- with enthusiastic waves, exuberant smiles, and blowing lots of kisses. What if we all greeted our reflection in the mirror that way, rather than critique every little thing?
.
-For all the food we put up. We’ve been appreciating it so much, throughout the winter. We’ve eaten most of it up now- early spring, but we’ve still got plenty of applesauce left.
.
-Pajamas. A warm blanket. A book. A little relaxing moment to myself.
.
-Jeff wearing his felted shoes and sweater proudly. He was so excited about them and people would stop him on the street to exclaim over them. Every time his face would light up as he told about making them.
.
-A day feeling so guided and things flowing so smoothly.
.
-Sitting out in the warm sunshine while Bracken played barefoot in the yard.
.
-Movement. Action. Inspiration. The fresh starts and bursts of energy that spring brings!
.
-The book I’ve been reading being so humbling and reminding me of the important things in life.
.
-Leftover soup = easy meals
.
-Having the sweetest dream. In it I was wanting to make Jeff a special dessert for his birthday and I had a recipe picked out, but I had no idea how I’d have time to do it because we were so busy. I came down the stairs in the morning and was surprised to see my grandma sitting there with the most beautiful dessert. She had followed my recipe and made the most delicious treat for Jeff. We all sat down and ate it, with my mom there too, and couldn’t believe how incredibly divine it tasted.
.
-Beautiful weather for our first day of market! It was sunny, warm, and gorgeous. At the end of the day when it got cloudy and colder, it didn’t rain! We were so happy to have us and all of our stuff dry.
.
-Seeing so many friendly faces at market. Our hearts felt so full seeing friends we had missed.
.
-Some fun trades with market friends for some things we needed.
.
-Getting to meet beautiful baby Hazel for the first time. She is a love. And of course seeing her parents was wonderful too!
.
-Getting great feedback about new items in our booth. We sold out of Jeff’s ‘Utopian Daydream’ perfume blend! It was fun to see the things people liked.
.
-Loving the new set-up in our booth. The shelves gave us so much more space.
.
-Elder Power Kombucha by Oak Barrel Kombucha, with elder flowers, elderberries, and ginger. Goodness that stuff is good!
.
–Epsom salt bath after a long day.
.
–Jeff’s surprise for Bracken this morning. Instead of an Easter egg hunt, he hid little toys all over the living room for Bracken to find. He put raisins in a few containers and hid those too. It was so fun to see Bracken’s excitement over his finds and he was quite happy eating those raisins. I love all the thoughtful things Jeff does to make things special.

oh taryn! aren’t the trilliums out in force this year? down here in the mendocino redwoods they are just exploding! i’ve lived in these same woods since i was 6 and i have never ever seen so may of these most beautiful flowers. someone told me that they can live to be over 100 years old and bloom and bloom and bloom, but once picked, that root will never flower again. in 3 weeks i leave my redwoods and ocean and flowers for the desert and i know i will be relying on this blog to get my taste of the PacNW. keep on keepin on, you make my days brighter.
