Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
-Hearing Jeff and Bracken playing in the other room while I got dinner ready. That sound was like music to my ears.
.
-More comments on here since the new commenting system! It’s so nice to hear from you. And now my mom and sister can leave comments and that makes me really happy.
.
-How green everything looks after a good rain.
.
-Herbs growing all over our yard to make our salves with.
.
-Laughter. It lightens up the world.
.
-Bracken falling asleep on me and taking a nap in my arms. I loved looking down at him, quietly savoring.
.
-A letter from my grandma in the mail. She said it well: “Phone calls are great, e-mails and Facebook help us keep in touch, but a real letter is special.”
.
-Overhearing some people in the tool store banging on a cow bell while saying “I’ve got a fever and the only cure is more cow bell!” I started cracking up, which made them laugh even more, and I thought of my mom because that’s one of her favorite Saturday Night Live skits.
.
-Wi-fi at the local coffee shop.
.
-Simple daily satisfactions like: tidying up the house, getting laundry washed and hung to dry, dishes done, food made…
.
-Buying a t-post puller. How did we live without one of those for so long?
.
-Pulling up a bunch of old fencing. My goodness, what a difference that made!
.
-A warm house on a rainy cold day.
.
-Seedlings popping up in the greenhouse and every day spotting new growth.
.
-The subtle sweet scent of our first batch of baby balm filling our home.
.
-Our internet working again!
.
-Two neat dreams. In one, we had a pasture full of sheep. I was hugging, loving, and appreciating each one and as I did, they shared gifts of wool that would just gently fall into my arms without needing to shear them. In my dream I felt immensely grateful to have so much wool to work with. I was in wool heaven. In my other dream, I was a GAPS practitioner, with waiting rooms of people to help. I was so passionate about what I was doing and it was a very satisfying dream.
.
-Heading to market knowing, with all our hard work, that we were going to have a very full booth. A good feeling.
.
-Gifts from friends and some wonderful trades.
.
-Zucchini at farmer’s market! It’s amazing what greenhouses can do. Buying some asparagus made me pretty happy too.
.
-Getting through our market day. It was such a wonderful day filled with gorgeous weather and friends, but I got a debilitating headache and that made it extra challenging to keep a toddler happy when his toys were not as exciting as all the things in our booth that we wanted to touch instead.
.
-Kind words from our booth neighbor when I was feeling a little embarrassed about a loud toddler tantrum in our booth. Basically saying that she was a mom too, that all parents understood, and that no one was in the midst of a yoga session or trying to meditate- we were at the loud Saturday Market after all. Her kindness made me feel so much better at the end of a long day.

.
-Jeff. Bless him. The love he gives is just so big.
