Joining Ginny’s Yarn Along, sharing what I am knitting and reading.
.
Yay! I finished my first leg warmer! I just cast on the second. When I started the first one, I completely guessed on the size. Once I had knitted awhile I was able to try it on and I was delighted that it fit great. The ribbing makes the size stretch and be very flexible. I love the beautiful stripes of color in this yarn from Gift of Grace Handspun. Happily, I got quite a bit of knitting accomplished since last week. Not only did I knit every chance I got during car rides when Jeff drove, I brought my knitting along to Saturday Market. When Bracken was in the Ergo and nursed to sleep for his nap, I stood, gently swaying (like I automatically do when he sleeps), and worked on knitting while he snoozed in the pack. Then I worked on it whenever Jeff and Bracken left the booth to go on an adventure together. I was amazed how much I was able to get done.
And speaking of market…. a wonderful thing happened while we were there. I was standing in our booth knitting and a woman came and asked if I needed anymore knitting needles. She was no longer knitting and wanted her needles to go to a good home. I had just told Jeff how I needed more knitting needles, days before that! So she rode her bike back home (which was right by market) and brought back some bamboo knitting needles in various sizes!! We did a trade for them and both of us were super happy about it. Wooden knitting needles are my favorite, they are warm and feel good to hold, and they are nice and quiet too. Just wanted to share my excitement about that, I was elated.
In case you’re wondering, that’s a yarn bowl in the picture. We traded for it with an artist from market. I love it and use it all the time. I want to make a wooden one (when we get a tool to do it) because it would be better suited for bringing on-the-go than a ceramic one.
As for reading, I started reading ‘The Rhythm of Family’ by Amanda Blake Soule & Stephen Soule and I’m loving it (I knew I would.) I’ve wanted to read it ever since it came out and it feels like such a treat to be reading it now. I’m also still reading ‘Trust Your Vibes’ by Sonia Choquette and it’s been helping me immensely. Reminding me to care for myself, to breathe deeply, to stay calm and centered… she always has good reminders!
P.S. I’m a little delayed posting this because we went strawberry picking today. Pictures to come tomorrow.
