Today I’m joining Ginny’s Yarn Along, sharing what I’m knitting and reading.
.
Is this a great picture of Bracken or what? It cracks me up.
We did more driving than we usually do while my mom was here and that meant- yay- more knitting (the times when Jeff was driving, that is.) I finished knitting my cowl. Jeff is making some buttons for it and I’m so excited to add them on. I also started an elf hat for Bracken for his second birthday, coming up in October, and I already finished it. I had him try it on to see if the size was right. It fits perfect and still leaves some room to grow.
Now I’ve put it away to save for his birthday. (I’ve got lots of ideas for other handmade gifts to make too.)
This special yarn is handspun by my friend Camilla. The colors are so perfect for Bracken- blueberry blue to match his eyes, mixed with light sea blue and some earthy brown (for our earthy boy that wants to be outdoors always.) Ravelry notes here.
As for reading, I stopped by a local book store with my mom while she was here. (We brought her back to the airport yesterday.) Jeff and I had some credit there from bringing in some used books, which you can use towards other used books. I found a copy of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. I had The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but wanted to start at the beginning when I realized Tom Sawyer came first. I’m enjoying it so far, it’s a lighthearted, quick read and it makes me laugh. I love the picture on the cover. There are pictures throughout the book as well and the print is nice and big, which makes it seem like I’m reading it even faster.
And now on to the good part.
Would you like to see more pictures of Bracken in his hat? Yes?
Okay, here you go.
From the back.
Bracken was running around the yard and his pool on a hot day, but was so kind as to wear a wooly hat long enough for his mama to get some pictures.
Pulling it off. (By the way, that’s berry juice on his face.)
Gathering some little flowers.
Eating a blackberry from the yard.
Thanks to Bracken for showing his elf hat.
I’m so glad I have one of his birthday gifts ready ahead of time.
How about you friends? Knitting anything? Reading anything?
