On Bracken’s Birthday….
….he opened presents
(with a little help)
….he wore his birthday crown
(on and off, here and there)
….he got measured on our cedar measuring board
(a new family birthday tradition)
….he blew out two candles
(then did it again so we could get another picture)
….he was hugged and snuggled
(and played with too)
…..he was surrounded by people who loved him,
all day long
.
We had a wonderful weekend with my mom and sister here. Their presence made Bracken’s Birthday extra special. Right before their visit, the weather turned and we had rain. I was disappointed because I wanted them to experience the gorgeous fall weather we had been having. Admittedly, what made me most disappointed about the weather was that it made picture taking much more challenging. Our camera is picky when it comes to taking decent pictures. (That’s why you don’t see many pictures inside our house, since our camera likes the natural light of the outdoors best. And it likes sunshine, rather than rainy days.) The flash was only working periodically and looked worse than the blurry pictures with no flash.
So, you will see some blurry pictures here, but they still capture the sweetness of the weekend.
There’s some pictures from my mom’s camera mixed in too.

Bracken playing with his new pull toy from his Aunt Sam (made by Armadillo Dreams.)
Oh yes, and eating an apple at the same time.

Bracken’s excitement over his new trike from his Grandma Julie, was so much fun to watch. He tried it out around the living room.
Then we took it outside.
He used his feet to get it moving. (We’ve been practicing a little with the pedals.)
I love this one in the front yard.
Multitasking. Eating an apple and riding at the same time.
My Grandma Jensen handknit the most beautiful blue hooded sweater for Bracken. We wanted to get some pictures of him wearing it to show her, which turned into a fun game of chasing him around the yard.

His birthday crown (after adding the letter B, since the other day.)
This shows the front of the vest I made for him. I used cedar toggle buttons like these. The vest is a little big on him right now, but that’s good because it means he’ll get to wear it longer.

Blinking, but too cute to not post.

Yes, that’s me in the background coming with my camera. Bracken is being giggly while I chase him around with it.
Blowing out his candles. (Will share the delicious recipe I made for his birthday treat soon. It’s a new family favorite.) Last night he kept pointing to the drawer where we keep our candles and blowing. So we lit his birthday candles and sang him happy birthday again. I have a feeling we might be doing that again in the next few days, he loves it so much.
Then yesterday we got some pictures before we left for the airport.

I love this one.

Today the sun came out. I had to laugh at the timing.
I’m so grateful my mom and sister were here for Bracken’s birthday and am looking forward to the next time we get to see them again.
Happy 2nd Birthday, dear Bracken, you’re the light of our life!
