Today I’m joining Ginny’s Yarn Along, sharing what I’m knitting and reading.
.
With our Holiday Market coming up, I started knitting a kid’s elf hat for our booth. The yarn was handspun by Rachel of Woolgypsy. I love the bright vibrant colors with greens and blues, and the texture.
On the topic of knitting, my mom was joking about the “knitting lady” she had seen at the airport who didn’t put her knitting down for a second. She knitted as she walked, when she went up to the counter to ask a question…. you get the idea. I explained to my mom (while knitting on this hat as we waited for food to arrive, when we got a quick bite after they got here) that it was completely “normal” in the knitting world (hehe.)

As for reading, I just finished reading through the journal I started for Bracken (before I was even pregnant with him.) I brought it out as his birthday grew near. I loved reading about how excited we were to be pregnant with him and what I wrote all throughout the pregnancy. I wrote his birth story there while it was still fresh. Then what it was like after he arrived. Reading it all brought tears to my eyes. Happy tears, marveling at the miracle of it all.
I haven’t written in it as often after his arrival, since all my time is being with him and not as much time writing to him. But I got it out and have been making it a point to write in there more, even if it’s just a few sentences before bed. I’m so glad I started that journal for him. It’s a gift for me to go back and read it and I will love for him to read it someday.
On the topic of a journal….
On the topic of a journal….
Since I’ve loved keeping a journal for Bracken so much, I had the inspiration to use this special journal we had from Frost Lane, to create a 2nd Birthday Journal for him. Jeff, my mom, my sister, and I all wrote him notes in it. Then I’ve been taping in birthday cards he received. I’m leaving some pages blank for some more people to write notes to him in there.
