We did a lot of running around today. We mailed out packages and stopped by our neighbor’s house to buy some frozen blueberries (we could eat a giant bag a day and have to refrain ourselves to not do that) and some apples for fresh eating. He gifted us with a jug of fresh pressed apple juice. We tell him how much we appreciate the good food he grows. We stopped by our other neighbors’ and traded for lavender and wool. Which happen to be two of my favorite things. We got to say hello to their goats, chickens, and gypsy horses. Then we headed into town and ran some errands. We enjoyed the very rare treat of eating out. We had the whole place to ourselves and listened to reggae music while we ate our salads with the freshest local produce. It felt pretty fancy to us. (And we might have gone a little overboard in our excitement and added too much roasted garlic on our salads.) We saw the most incredible sunset as we headed back into the mountains towards home. I took some pictures while we were driving, but they didn’t turn out. We didn’t get home till after dark. Jeff got a fire started while Bracken and I were busy in the kitchen. Jeff and Bracken have been playing together while I write this. Bracken has been dancing while Jeff plays the guitar. It feels cozy by the fire and I’m happy to be home.
P.S. This is our neighbor’s dog Bud. Isn’t he cute?
