What fun it is to watch Bracken’s delight in the fall leaves! Do these pictures make you smile like they do me? Watching him today, fondly reminded me of this post from last fall. Yesterday and today we’ve been blessed with sunshine and warmth outside. We had piles of new items to photograph for Etsy (we had been waiting for a break in the rain to get pictures of them.) So yesterday morning we took lots of pictures. Since our electricity was out, we headed into the woods to see if all the rain lately had brought out any mushrooms. Our mushroom hunting adventure did not bring any mushrooms, but it felt wonderful to be moving our bodies and spending time together as a family outdoors. Then we did things around the yard: raked up part of the driveway, got the blueberries “tucked in” for the winter, and tidied up. Thankfully, our electricity did come back on (since there were plenty of things that needed doing that required it.) Today we started getting hoses tucked away and leaves in the yard raked. We knew there was much that needed doing inside (my goodness, Holiday Market is almost here!), but we couldn’t quite pull ourselves away from how good it felt outside. Not quite yet. We needed to savor this warmth a little longer. All the heavy rain has reminded us how rare these sunny days are this time of year and will be for quite awhile longer. So we took off our shoes and layed down on the earth, with our backs against the earth and our bellies to the sky. We felt the warm sun on our faces, and on the bottoms of our feet as we wiggled our toes.
We savored it just awhile longer. And then we came inside.
