Joining Ginny’s Yarn Along, sharing what I’m knitting and reading.
.
Well, I’ve been bringing Jeff’s slippers along whenever we leave the house, so I’ve been making progress on them. It’s about time to start on the toes. If these slippers look huge, it’s because they are. I knew that they would be when I used larger sized needles. The plan is to felt them in the washing machine. I know some of you might be gasping right now. One of my knitting friends couldn’t believe I would risk felting something I had spent so much time knitting. But I love the magic of felting and the experimenting, the anticipation, not knowing how it will turn out… it’s the best. The yarn is about half wool and half hemp. So they might shrink a little. Or they might not shrink at all. Who knows? That excites me. I must sound pretty funny.
No reading around here, so nothing to report on that end. I renewed my library books in the hope that I would read them, but realistically knew I don’t do much reading this time of year. That’s alright, I can check them out again in January, which is what’s so great about the library.

P.S. An update: We got a rentalcar van yesterday (all paid for by the other driver’s insurance company.) So we have temporary wheels until we can get things sorted out. It’s fancy. So fancy in fact, that Jeff couldn’t get it started. He had to go back into the place and ask them. We laughed at that, saying we were really a couple of country hillbillies who couldn’t start these newfangled rigs. Turns out the metal key is only for unlocking the doors, but the huge plastic keychain-looking thing is actually the key that starts it. Go figure. There’s a screen in there that shows a video behind the vehicle as you back up. And so many buttons everywhere, we have no idea what they all do. It also has XM radio, which Bracken loved. He gets really happy whenever we play music at home, but he had never experienced in a vehicle before (since our truck never had it.)
We drove past the spot of the accident and you could still see signs of it in the road, even though they had swept up after it. Our friend April (who came to visit us at market that day with her wonderful family) sent an e-mail when she found out about it and said: “Oddly enough when I said goodbye to you guys I ended it with “drive safe” and had a weird feeling as well (which I often blame on my worry-wart mother genes).” The thing is, I got a funny feeling too! When we leave market at night, many of our market friends say “drive safe” when we say goodbye for the night, but Sunday night I got a weird feeling when it was said. So did Jeff. And turns out our friend too.
Anyway, we will be back at the Holiday Market this weekend. We are working at a slower pace this week, which feels right for us. We are finishing up things we had started last week, so we’ll have new things in the booth. Jeff’s ribs are still sore and bruised, but he is on the mend.

I want to thank each and every one of you who wrote such kind, warm messages from Monday’s post about the accident. Your words were so appreciated! It made us feel loved and supported. Thank you! So many people reached out with help in so many different ways and they all meant so much to us. More than words can say.
