Joining Ginny’s Yarn Along, sharing what I’m knitting and reading.

..Knitting..
I started knitting this hat for a friend’s new baby. This is my first time making the Aviatrix pattern and when starting thought “how is this going to be a hat?”, but then watched it transform before my eyes. I love this sweet little hat already, even though it’s not yet finished, and want to make more. I am close to finishing the main part of the hat, then I start knitting the strap that goes under the chin. Really exciting part? There is going to be a button! And you all know how much I love those. I’ve got one visualized in my mind that I think would be perfect for this hat.
The yarn was a birthday gift from my sister. I’ve been saving it for something special, waiting for the right project to come along. The yarn is organic merino from Brambleberry Yarns. Lovely, lovely yarn as I’ve written about before. The soft merino is perfect for a baby’s head. And the beautiful color? Naturally dyed by Cynthia with indigo and turmeric.
..Reading..
I went to the library and searched for Waldorf books. Our local library only had one called ‘Creative Play for your toddler: Steiner Waldorf expertise and toy projects for 2-4s.’ I’m part way through. It’s alright. There is not very much information on Waldorf at all, which is what I was looking for. Although it does have tutorials for making handmade toys for little ones, which is inspiring me for some things I could make for Bracken.
I have gotten some recommendations for Waldorf books to read (thanks to many of you who have left them in the comments on my Waldorf posts.) I’m going to bring my list to the library and see if they can get some for me from other libraries.
Oh yes, and I finished ‘The Answer is Simple.’ Loved it (once again.) Here is a quote from the book I liked:
“It’s so easy for the ego to distract you from all there is to celebrate. It takes life’s gifts for granted, shoving them aside and encouraging you to ignore them, while pining away for what’s not there instead. How easy it is to forget that everything is a gift, and every gift is a reason to celebrate.”
