Joining Ginny’s YarnAlong, sharing what I’m knitting and reading.

I finished these cozy little mitts for Bracken. (We have these leaves as mulch around some of our potted blueberries and they made a great background.) I made these mitts with my leftover yarn from another project and after finishing them, I still have more yarn left. Wouldn’t it be great if I had enough yarn left for a pair of baby socks for a friend… three projects from one skein? We’ll see. Anyway, Bracken loves his little mitts. They are big on him and may still fit for many winters yet. The pattern was really easy to follow and they knitted up pretty quick. I’d like to make a pair for myself in moss green!
Yarn: lovely organic merino from Brambleberry Yarns
Buttons: WoolyMossRoots Buttons in reclaimed sassafras wood.
(Me: “Hey Bracken, show me your mitts!”)
Bracken of course wanted to run around outside (who could blame him?) rather than stay still for his mama to take some pictures. I asked Jeff is he would hold Bracken for a moment, thinking that might give me a good opportunity. I got this picture before too much squiggling. Bracken’s mitts did interfere with some of his playing, so he eventually took them off. That’s alright, he’s got them if he needs them.

And for reading? I finished the two books about chickens. Then I started another book I requested from the library. Here’s a peek inside the book:
Isn’t it fun?
The book is called: ‘Farm Anatomy: The Curious Parts and Pieces of Country Life’ by Julia Rothman.
My Grandma just wrote to me and at one point mentioned that she is a visual learner. So am I. Being a visual learner, I really enjoyed this book filled with delightful drawings about farm life. It was a fun and quick read. Everything with pictures just reads more quickly, doesn’t it?
