…Knitting…
Well, I finished Jeff’s slippers and he loves them. (Pattern here. Ravelry notes here.) The yarn I used is from our market friends- Inge and Wolfe- who raise sheep and alpacas on their farm- Timberwolf Farm. They shear their sheep (and alpacas) and process the fiber. Then they send it to a mill in Oregon to be spun into yarn. Inge also sells some yarn that she spins herself. Some of their yarns remain their natural color and others Inge dyes with plants from her garden. (She even shared some plants with us to start our own dye garden here.) Jeff knew I fell in love with their indigo-dyed yarn (brilliant blue) and woad-dyed yarn (light blue) at the Holiday Market. We don’t have very much money to spend on yarn and most of the yarn I have comes from trades with friends (which I’m so grateful for.) He knew I really wanted it, but wouldn’t have bought it for myself. So Jeff surprised me and bought some skeins for me. Bless him. As soon as he gave the yarn to me, I knew I was going to knit something for him with it. When I found this pattern, I knew it was it. I thought the two blues would have more contrast in the finished slippers, but now I’m fine that they don’t because I think the blues are really pretty together. Jeff says his new slippers are really warm. (I’m thinking about adding some leather soles to keep him from sliding all over on our wood floors.) Now I want to make Bracken a pair in another colorway.
…Reading…
I’m still reading ‘The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby and Child Care’ from last week. I highly recommend it! More to say, but I need to wrap this up for the night. I’ll save it for another post.
And now, let’s look at some more pictures of those slippers, shall we?
I asked Jeff to be my foot model and he started doing all sorts of hilarious foot poses, making me laugh as usual with his goofiness.
Bracken wanted to get in the picture too.
Then I asked him to stand by those pretty little flowers in the grass.
I like the back sides and wanted to get a picture of that too.
It took patience on Jeff’s part to be standing still that long when he had so much work to be doing. He likes to be on the move, which makes me think leather soles would be a very good addition, otherwise he would be wearing through these slippers in no time.

How about you? Knitting? Reading?
I look forward to hearing about your projects and your reads each week, you inspire me.
