…Knitting…
I’m knitting some slippers for Jeff right now. I fell in love with this pattern for Simple Slippers by Liz, of The Sitting Tree. I took these pictures earlier yesterday, then later that day I finished the sole of the first slipper. I purchased this pattern awhile ago and intended to make the slippers for Jeff’s birthday. I knitted my very first gauge swatch (I know, a momentous knitting moment), but it didn’t turn out right. At first when I got stuck, I decided to look into making another knitting project for Jeff’s birthday and went to a yarn shop with my mom to price yarn. The yarn turned out to be expensive for the project I wanted to make and I already had yarn that I could use for the slippers. By that point I was doubting being able to finish the slippers in time. I wrote with Liz and realized my blooper, I needed to knit the swatch with two strands of yarn, just like the slipper sole. When I did that, it turned out great. So funny I was stuck in the pattern by something so simple in the gauge swatch, isn’t it? Will I get them done in time for Jeff’s birthday? His birthday is this weekend, so we’ll see!
…Reading…
I’m still reading ‘Simplicity Parenting.’ Like I wrote last week, it has a lot of good wisdom in it. There are so many things in the book that I can relate to. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed, wondering how to make the changes I’d like to and wanting more balance for myself. There are areas in our life I’d like to simplify. And I want to create more peace in our home and more calm for us all. There are many simple, practical ideas in this book for how to create those changes and it’s good timing for me to be reading it now.
What about you? Knitting? Reading?
