-Honeysuckles. Their scent. Their gentle beauty. Watching them change from little buds to unfurling flowers so quickly. They are so majestic and lovely. And must be appreciated in the moment, as they fade so soon.
.
-Bracken and Jeff playing “farmer’s market” in the living room. With a basket in hand, Bracken brought his “money” (strips of newspaper) and Jeff handed him wooden blocks (food.) Bracken wanted to keep playing and playing.
.
-Gentle breezes. A forest full of birds singing. Shadows of rippling leaves on the ground.
.
-Productive days.
.
–Strawberries in the freezer.
.
-Crossing everything off our long list of errands during a town trip.
.
-The fact that certain particularly challenging phases- like toddler tantrums- don’t last forever.
.
-Harvesting hand fulls of peas and arm fulls of herbs in the garden.
.
-How good it feels to surrender to a nap when you really need one. I have never been much of a napper, but lately the occasional nap has been doing wonders for me.
.
-Fresh salads with just-picked lettuce from our garden.
.
-Finding a box of chalk we forgot we had. On a rainy day, Bracken drew all over the cement floor on the front porch and it was so great.
.
-Little windows of “me” time that replenish my soul.
.
-One night when we all went to sleep at the same time. Most of the time Jeff stays up later than Bracken and I, working. When Bracken heard his dada coming up the stairs early for bed, his excitement melted my heart.
.
-Watching a love story movie that was so heartwarming. I’m a sucker for love story movies.
.
-How incredibly excited I get over all the beautiful, colorful vegetables and fruits at farmer’s market. (A few trades made me so giddy I wanted to burst.)
.
-Trying a Tayberry for the first time. Yum. (I have yet to try a berry I haven’t liked.)
.
-Doing something special and stopping for ice cream on our way home from market yesterday. Vanilla Jill’s had paleo ice cream (with coconut milk and naturally sweetened without sugar.) It was incredibly delicious and such a treat. (Their paleo bone broth soups rock too.)
