Like my fireworks picture? (Haha.) I wasn’t really expecting any to turn out (since our camera takes so long to click the actual picture after you hit the button), but figured I’d take a few anyway. After all, it was a momentous occasion since they were Bracken’s first fireworks!
On Saturday night we headed over with friends to Mapleton to watch the fireworks. It had been quite a few years since Jeff and I had been to them. I had gone back and forth this year, wondering whether or not to bring Bracken to the fireworks. Wondering if he was old enough, wondering if we wanted to keep him out so late after his bedtime. But then we decided to go for it, deciding that we thought he would really enjoy it. And he did. We spread out our blankets in the grass and watched the show. Bracken hardly sat down for a moment, he was having so much fun being social. I kept my eye on Bracken more than the fireworks, but it was still a fun time. Bracken just kept saying “moh” (more) fireworks! We brought some glow sticks along and they were a big hit. I had forgotten how much fun I had with those when I was a kid. Our friend mentioned that she wasn’t outside at night very often and that it was so nice to see the stars. I agreed. We came home late and as I carried Bracken in the house, we paused before we came inside and looked up at the sky again. Always amazed at how many stars there are. I’m glad we went. Bracken said he wanted to go again and I told him we’d have to wait till next year.
